Meet Ringeta Ch. Sangma, the entrepreneur behind Hashabia Stingless Bee Honey from Chigitchakre, West Garo Hills, Meghalaya.

Since 2023, Ringeta has been producing pure stingless bee honey while expanding her range to include infused honey with ginger, turmeric, lemon, and clove, along with handcrafted beeswax lip balms, candles, and room fresheners. Her products are now enjoyed across Tura, Shillong, and Guwahati.

With training from the District Commerce & Industries Centre (DCIC), she transformed her passion into a successful enterprise, earning over ₹2 lakh in just one year. Recognized as a State Champion with a ₹1 lakh award from the Hon'ble Chief Minister, she continues to create employment while inspiring more women to pursue entrepreneurship. Looking ahead, she believes MeghaRise will help her products reach even wider markets.

Inspired by her parents and the traditions she grew up with, she transformed a generational skill into a thriving enterprise after registering her business in 2019. With support from the District Commerce & Industries Centre (DCIC), she further refined her craft through professional training.

Today, she creates eco-friendly handcrafted products for everyday use, made entirely from natural raw materials that are both sustainable and kind to the environment. Once challenged by limited market access, she now reaches more customers with the support of DCIC, helping preserve a craft that continues to be a vital source of livelihood for her family and community.

Meet Chubat Marak of the Mylliem Area Bee Keeper's Society from East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya.

Established in 2016, the society is dedicated to producing pure, natural honey harvested from the rich landscapes of Meghalaya. Free from added chemicals or preservatives, their honey reflects the region's pristine environment and the community's commitment to sustainable beekeeping.

Today, they supply their honey across Tura, Ampati, Shillong, and various exhibitions, taking pre-orders for bottles and bulk quantities. As they look to grow, Chubat believes MeghaRise will help overcome challenges in branding, packaging, and marketing—opening new opportunities for their products to reach wider markets.

Meet Shri Danosha Tlang, the entrepreneur behind M/S DD Spices Products from East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya.

What began in 2011–12 as a vision to introduce locally produced spices in a region better known for coal mining has grown into a thriving enterprise. Today, M/S DD Spices Products offers a wide range of premium spices, including Lakadong turmeric, ginger powder, achar masala, black sesame, aloo muri masala, long pepper, and more—bringing the authentic flavours of Meghalaya to every kitchen.

As demand for his products continues to grow, Danosha encourages local farmers to cultivate more raw spices so the region can meet market demand while creating greater opportunities for rural communities. Looking ahead, he believes MeghaRise will help his products reach new markets through sustainable branding and eco-friendly packaging, eliminating the use of single-use plastics.

Meet Bah Briem and Raynold Reki Iawphniaw of M/s Snohkteilum Co-operative Society, Mawkohphet, South West Khasi Hills, Meghalaya.

In a village where agriculture is a way of life, they have transformed locally available bamboo and cane into beautiful handcrafted products like baskets, trays (Prah), and traditional brooms. Every creation is made using natural materials that are fully biodegradable, reflecting a craft that is both sustainable and deeply rooted in the community.

With training opportunities brought to their village by the District Commerce & Industries Centre (DCIC), local artisans have learned broom making, basket weaving, and other traditional crafts. Today, Bah Briem and Raynold proudly work alongside fellow villagers, helping farmers create additional sources of income while preserving skills passed down through generations. Raynold also expresses his gratitude to Bah Briem for bringing these valuable training opportunities to the community.

Together, through their cooperative society, they hope to nurture more local talent, expand their range of handcrafted products, and build an even stronger community of artisans in the years to come.

MEET THE MAKER.
Meet Colvin D. Shira, the entrepreneur behind Dondima IBCS from Jenapara, South West Garo Hills, Meghalaya.

Since 2017, Colvin has been building a thriving agro-based enterprise, producing processed cashew nuts, semi-processed rice, lemongrass, and black pepper. What began as a local initiative has grown into a business that now supplies products across Meghalaya and to markets in Assam, Hyderabad, and Gujarat.

With support from the Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA), including working capital assistance to establish the enterprise, Dondima IBCS has steadily expanded its operations. Today, the enterprise provides employment to around 30 monthly workers, creating opportunities while adding value to Meghalaya's agricultural produce. Looking ahead, Colvin believes MeghaRise will help his products reach even wider markets.
