*Illegal Mining Crackdown Intensified in Bandipora, 04 Vehicles Seized.*
Bandipora, August 21, 2026:
Continuing its drive against illegal mining and the unauthorized transportation of mining material, Bandipora Police seized 03 tractors and 01 tipper found involved in illegal mining activities.
The action was taken on the basis of specific inputs regarding illegal extraction and transportation of mining material at different locations falling within the jurisdiction of PS Pethkote, PP Ajas and PP Aloosa. Acting swiftly on the inputs, police teams conducted surprise checks at vulnerable locations and intercepted the vehicles involved in the illegal activity.
Cognizance has been taken under the relevant provisions of the MMRD Act, and further investigation is underway.
Bandipora Police reiterates its commitment to taking strict action against violators of mining laws and urges the public to refrain from indulging in such unlawful practices. Citizens are also encouraged to report any illegal mining or transportation of mining material to the nearest police station or through designated helpline numbers.
