JKHPMC to develop Shopian as ‘Apple Cluster’, with NHB and Union Ministry of Agriculture’s support

JKHPMC is developing Shopian as an ‘Apple Cluster’ with National Horticulture Board’s (NHB) technical support and financial aid of Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare at an estimated cost of Rs. 140 crores, under the Ministry’s Cluster Development Programme (CDP). The Final Approval Letter in this regard has been issued today 18th May 2023 by the Managing Director, Jammu & Kashmir Horticultural Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation (JKHPMC) to M/s FIL Industries Ltd., Srinagar for Implementing Shopian Apple Cluster of National Horticulture Board, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, GoI. The programme has to be executed with respect to three end to end verticals, viz. pre-production & production, post production & value addition and logistics & marketing in a span of four years.

The formal transfer of land from the District Admiration Shopian to JKHPMC for the optimum implementation of the programme has also been taken up with the Divisional Commisioner, Kashmir.

Eligible crops under the scheme include plums, cherry, litchi, All vegetables exotic/organic /conventional , fishery products including (trout/carp), floriculture products( flowers/plants). Eligible beneficiaries include individual farmers, SHG's, FPO's, registered intermediaries, Govt. Corporations.

On 8 March, MD JKHPMC Ltd, Shri Imam Din along with Consultant (P&A) Mr Nisar Andarabi & Consultant (FP) Ms Nighat Ara, paid visit to Doabgah & Mazbugh sites. They took the stock of different Ongoing Projects of Corporation in North Kashmir, viz, Warehouse Doabgah,40MT Packhouse Mazbugh, CIC Doabgah, Hi-Tech F&V Processing Centre Doabgah & CBC Mazbugh. 🏭
✔️An extensive tour of AJP Doabgah, was conducted where a brief demonstration regarding its functioning, operations & latest upgradations were delivered to him.
✔️MD, JKHPMC Shri Imad Din was also given a brief description/demonstration of all the projects which are currently under ex*****on in North Kashmir. He was apprised with the latest status & expected timeline of all the projects. Various onsite directions were passed for the betterment of projects. It has also been advised to complete all the projects within the set timeline.🕕

JKHPMC Ltd. is indebted to the efforts and dedication of on-site Business Consultant Mr.Mohsin Khan for reviving various projects of the corporation and outsourcing projects like the CBC unit and Apple Juice Plant in North Kashmir's Sopore area.

✔️ MD JKHPMC, Director Fisheries push for formulation of Fish FPOs 👏

✔️The Department of Fisheries in collaboration with NABARD and the Human Welfare Foundation organized an Awareness Camp for the formulation of the 2nd FPO in Anantnag District at the Trout Farming Project in Achabal.

➡️A large gathering of fish farmers attended the one-day training camp, which was addressed by Director of Fisheries, Mohammad Farooq Dar; MD JKHPMC, Imad-Ud-Din; JD of Fisheries, South A.M. Tak; CPO of Kokernag Fisheries Project, Mohi-Ud-Din; DD of Fisheries Ang, Sideeq, Principal of Fisheries Training Institute Kokernag, and President of the Human Welfare Foundation.🐟🐟

The camp was a great success, providing valuable knowledge and insight to the fish farmers in attendance.🐟

↔️The farmers lauded the efforts being made by the Government. They said that FPOs will increase their bargaining power in the market and reduce the vulnerability of individual farmers.

☑️Further, they said the FPO will help them to concentrate on processing and marketing of their produce in a joint manner which will help them fetch better prices.

Joint visit of State Nodal Agency for PM-FME Scheme of MoFPI, GoI, Civil Secretariat, Srinagar Host Institute (JKHPMC) and Mentor Institute (IUST) to Common Incubation Center Achabal, Anantnag, J&K was conducted on 27th February, 2023 for verifying the actual physical process, (completion) of the project including installation and commissioning and trial run of incubation facility for submitting the Utilisation Certificate (UC) to the Ministry vis-a-vis allocation of funds.

SNA was briefed about the process flow of the Lines and Accessories installed by JKHPMC for Fish & Fish based value added products at CIC Achabal, Anantnag in compliance with the FSSAI norms.

District officers of Fisheries Department, District Resource Person, Achabal and JKHPMC's Engineering Consultants also attended the session.
