DYSS Baramulla Accelerates Youth Engagement Through Multi-Zonal Sporting Events, Inspiring Fitness, Discipline, and Drug-Free Living

Baramulla, May 18:
The DYSS Baramulla, continues to successfully organize Inter-School Zonal Level Competitions across various educational zones of the district under the inspiring banner of Nasha Mukt Abhiyan J&K, aiming to channelize the energy of youth towards sports, wellness, and a drug-free future.

In a vibrant display of enthusiasm, discipline, and sporting spirit, multiple zones conducted a series of competitions in different disciplines, witnessing active participation from hundreds of young athletes from various government and private educational institutions.

Zone Dangerpora organized the Inter-School Zonal Level Yoga Competition for Under-14 and Under-17 Boys at High School Shiva, where around 80 students participated with great zeal and showcased remarkable flexibility, focus, and dedication. The event highlighted the importance of yoga in promoting physical and mental well-being among students.

Meanwhile, Zone Dangiwacha successfully conducted the Inter-School Zonal Level Kho-Kho Competition for Under-14 Girls at two clusters—Cluster Bahrampora and Cluster Dangiwacha. The competitions witnessed overwhelming participation, with 156 students competing in Cluster Bahrampora and 120 students participating in Cluster Dangiwacha. The spirited performances and sportsmanship displayed by the young participants added vibrancy and excitement to the event.

Adding further momentum to the district-wide sporting campaign, Zone Singpora Pattan organized the Inter-School Zonal Level Kabaddi Competition for Under-14 and Under-17 Boys, where more than 150 students participated enthusiastically. The event served as a platform for students to demonstrate teamwork, strength, and tactical skills while embracing the values of discipline and healthy competition.

Similarly, Zone Fatehgarh conducted the Inter-School Zonal Level Sports Competition for Under-14 and Under-17 Boys at Government Higher Secondary School Fatehgarh, with participation from around 70 students. The event witnessed energetic performances and reinforced the department’s commitment to nurturing sporting talent at the grassroots level.

DYSSO Baramulla Mushtaq Ahmad Pampori emphasized that sports play a crucial role in shaping the character of young individuals and serve as a powerful tool in promoting the message of Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir. He applauded the organizing teams across all zones for their sincere commitment and stressed the importance of continued engagement of youth in constructive and healthy pursuits.

Baramulla, May 07: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Baramulla today witnessed an overwhelming sporting atmosphere as multiple zones including Singpora Kalan, Dangerpora, Wagoora, Fatehgarh, Chandoosa, Kunzer, Singhpora Pattan, Tangmarg and Uri remained abuzz with Inter-School Zonal Level Competitions in various disciplines including Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho and Yoga. The competitions were organised under the banner of Nasha Mukt Abhiyan J&K with the active participation of thousands of students from government and private educational institutions across the district.

Zone Singpora Kalan successfully concluded the Inter-School Zonal Level Kabaddi and Kho-Kho competitions for Under-17 Boys amid great enthusiasm and competitive spirit. In the Kabaddi final, DPS emerged victorious against BPS by a narrow margin of two points in a thrilling contest, while in the Kho-Kho final, BPS clinched the title by defeating HSS Khaitangan.

Meanwhile, Zone Dangerpora continued its sporting activities on the fourth day of the ongoing Inter-School Zonal Level Competitions by conducting the Under-17 Boys Volleyball event at Government Higher Secondary School Botingoo, where participating teams displayed remarkable talent and sportsmanship.

Similarly, Zone Wagoora organised the Under-17 Girls Volleyball Competition at Higher Secondary School Wagoora on today, witnessing the participation of 72 students from different institutions of the zone. The event was formally inaugurated by the Principal HSS Wagoora and Tehsildar Wagoora, who appreciated the efforts of the department in channelising youth towards constructive and healthy activities.

Zone Fatehgarh conducted the Inter-School Zonal Level Kho-Kho competitions for Under-14 and Under-17 Boys at HSS Fatehgarh, where around 190 students from across the zone participated enthusiastically. The event was inaugurated by the Principal HSS Fatehgarh, who encouraged students to actively engage in sports for their physical and mental well-being.

In Zone Chandoosa, the Under-14 Boys Volleyball Competition was successfully conducted at High School Gohan on today with the participation of 60 students representing various institutions of the zone.

Zone Kunzer also successfully concluded the Inter-School Zonal Level Competitions for Under-14 Boys in Volleyball, Kabaddi and Kho-Kho. In Kabaddi, MS Pinjoora emerged as winners, while MS Reram clinched the Kho-Kho title. In Volleyball, Islamia Public School Batpora secured the championship title after displaying exceptional teamwork and skill.

Likewise, Zone Singhpora Pattan conducted Under-14 and Under-17 Boys/Girls Yoga Competitions at Jeel Ground MS NC Matipora today with the participation of more than 50 students from different institutions. The event highlighted the importance of yoga in maintaining physical fitness and mental wellness among students.

Zone Tangmarg organised the Inter-School Zonal Level Volleyball Competition for Under-17 Boys, witnessing the participation of 76 students who displayed commendable sporting zeal and competitive spirit throughout the event.

Furthermore, Zone Uri conducted the Inter-School Zonal Level Kabaddi Competition for Under-14 Boys at Mini Stadium Uri, where young athletes actively participated and showcased their sporting abilities.

YSS Zone Pattan successfully conducted Volleyball competitions for U-14 and U-17 under the banner of Nasha Mukt Abhiyan J&K with participation of 66 students from different institutions.

Srinagar Successfully Concludes “Leagues of Classics”; Youth Response Remarkable

Srinagar, Feb 18, 2026:
A major sports initiative launched by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports J&K under the banner “Leagues of Classics – Enjoy the Game” has successfully concluded across Srinagar city, witnessing an overwhelming response from young sports enthusiasts.
The trials in the disciplines of Cricket, Football and Volleyball drew hundreds of participants in the U-17 and U-19 boys categories at the Panchayat and Ward levels.
The trials were conducted at various locations across Srinagar, with all eight sports zones of the district completing their respective selection processes in a well-organized manner.
The initiative provided a significant platform for budding players to showcase their talent and competitive spirit. Enthusiastic participation was observed at all venues, reflecting the growing interest of youth in structured sports activities. Private clubs, schools, and sports lovers actively took part in the trials, adding to the vibrancy and competitive standard of the events.
The entire selection process was closely monitored by the Technical Team of the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports J&K to ensure transparency and merit-based selections.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Worthy Director YSS J&K, Ms. Anuradha Gupta (KAS), whose continued efforts aim at strengthening grassroots sports and nurturing young talent across the Union Territory.
The successful culmination of the “Leagues of Classics” marks another milestone in promoting sports culture in Srinagar and providing meaningful engagement opportunities for the youth.

League of Classics Fuels Sporting Renaissance in Baramulla: Day-3 Block-Level Trials Draw Massive Youth Participation

Baramulla, 18 Feb : – The Directorate of youth services and sports, District Baramulla, continued the League of Classics Block-Level Selection Trials for Football, Volleyball, and Cricket (Under-17 & Under-19 Boys) on the third consecutive day under the banner of the Youth Engagement Programme–2026, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening grassroots sports and nurturing young talent across the district.

The selection trials were organised at multiple venues including Block Wagoora, Block Tujjer, Block Zangeer, Block Dangiwacha, Block Narwav, Block Nadihal, and Block Tangmarg, where a large number of young athletes participated with great zeal and competitive spirit. At Block Wagoora, Volleyball trials for Under-17 and Under-19 Boys witnessed the participation of 83 players. Block Zangeer hosted Cricket selection trials for the same age categories with an impressive turnout of 250 participants. Meanwhile, Block Dangiwacha conducted Volleyball trials with 27 participants, and Block Narwav recorded the participation of 30 players in Volleyball trials.

The enthusiastic response from the youth reflects the growing momentum of sports culture in Baramulla and the success of sustained initiatives undertaken by the department to engage young people in constructive and healthy activities. The trials will continue in other blocks in the coming days, after which the shortlisted players will compete in Inter-Block District-Level Competitions, providing a strong platform for further talent identification and development.
