Our green initiative of collecting PET plastic waste JB Ecotex is known for recycling plastic wastes into fibers for a better future by being socially and environmentally responsible. It is one of the leading Recycled Polyester Staple Fiber (RPSF) manufacturers with a production capacity of 60000 MT/Annum. Today company is known for quality and commitment. With the Effluent Treatment plant installed in the unit, the Unit is a Zero Liquid Discharge unit, as wastewater generated during the process is being treated and reused. A windmill with a capacity of 2.1MW has been installed nearby Jamnagar (Gujarat) with the aim to use green power for recycling used PET bottles. Thus we have a lesser carbon footprint for recycling used PET bottles. Considering our responsibility for our planet and environment, we have certified our facility, recycling process, and products from various global certification agencies. Global Certificates indicates our commitment towards global manufacturing standards as well as quality products. We are a Global Recycled Standard (GRS) ver 3.0 certified since March 2016 which is an international, voluntary, full product standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions. PET bottles do not have to end at the bin. Once collected, they go through a process that converts them into recycled resins, which are cleaned, decontaminated, tested, and ready to become packaging again.

The cycle does not stop because the material does not have to either. Every bottle that comes in is one that does not go to a landfill, and every pellet that goes out carries that material back into productive use.

Every pellet of rPET resin starts the same way as a post-consumer PET bottle that has been collected, sorted, and diverted from ending up in a landfill or the environment. What happens after that is where the process makes the difference.

Getting recycled PET to food-grade purity involves multiple decontamination steps; quality testing across parameters like intrinsic viscosity, acetaldehyde, VOCs, moisture, colour, and heavy metals; and certification from bodies like GRS, FDA, FSSAI and ISCC, each covering a different aspect of the product, process, and supply chain.

The output is a resin that goes back into packaging, textiles, and other applications, keeping the material in use and out of waste streams.

Most quality checks in packaging are about what you can see: colour, clarity, and shape. But some of the most important ones are about what you cannot see at all.

VOCs, or Volatile Organic Compounds, are chemical traces that can remain in recycled PET after processing. They exist at very low concentrations but in food and beverage packaging, even those trace levels matter. Compounds like benzene and limonene are among the VOCs specifically monitored in rPET resin because of their potential to affect the safety and sensory quality of the product inside the packaging.

Controlling VOCs requires the right processing conditions, particularly high-temperature and high-vacuum decontamination steps that break down and remove these residues before the resin reaches the packaging line. What you cannot see still needs to be accounted for.

A used plastic bottle does not have one destination after recycling. Depending on how it is processed, it can become the resin in a food-grade bottle, the fibre in a piece of clothing, the fill in a cushion, the lining in a car seat, or the material in a non-woven fabric used across hygiene applications.

Recycled polyester staple fibre opens up that range. Once post-consumer PET is converted into fibre, it becomes a raw material that feeds into apparel, home textiles, automotive interiors, industrial applications, and more, each with its own requirements around denier, cut length, finish, and performance.

The starting point is the same. Where it ends up depends entirely on what the application needs.

Not every recycled PET resin qualifies for food-contact applications. The difference between standard recycled PET and food-grade rPET comes down to how it is processed and what it goes through before it reaches your packaging line.

Food-grade rPET has to clear decontamination steps that remove chemical residues, volatile organic compounds, and other substances that could interact with the product inside the packaging.

Parameters like acetaldehyde content, VOC levels, moisture, colour, and heavy metals are all tested to ensure the resin meets food-contact safety requirements.

Approvals from regulatory bodies like the US FDA and India's FSSAI are not automatically granted, they are based on documented process validation and test data. Maintaining those approvals means keeping the process consistent and the testing ongoing.

That is what separates food-grade from the rest.

Certifications in the recycling and packaging industry are not just badges, they represent a set of standards that have been assessed, audited, and verified by independent bodies. Each one covers a different aspect of how a product is made, what it contains, and how the process behind it is managed.

GRS covers the recycled content and chain of custody. OEKO-TEX looks at the product from a human health and safety standpoint. FDA and FSSAI address food-contact suitability. ISCC covers sustainability and carbon standards across the supply chain. ISO reflects quality and environmental management systems at the facility level.

Together they cover the full picture from product, process, safety, to sustainability. For buyers and brands sourcing recycled materials, these certifications are one of the clearest ways to verify what is actually behind a supplier's claims.
