🇮🇳 A Historic Step for India’s Diamond Industry

The Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026 has been passed by both Houses of Parliament, paving the way for India to become a global hub for rough diamond trading.

The 15-year income-tax exemption for eligible foreign entities trading through Special Notified Zones, including Surat Diamond Bourse , is a significant step towards bringing global rough diamond trade to India.

On this landmark occasion, Shri Govind Dholakia, Chairman, SDB, met Hon’ble Finance Minister and expressed gratitude for this progressive reform.

A shared vision for India’s economic and industrial growth — strengthening Surat and India’s position in the global diamond ecosystem. 🇮🇳💎

ભારતને રફ ડાયમંડ ટ્રેડિંગનું વૈશ્વિક હબ બનાવવાની દિશામાં ઐતિહાસિક પગલું

Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026 સંસદના બંને ગૃહોમાં પસાર કરવામાં આવ્યું છે.

આ કાયદા હેઠળ સુરત ડાયમંડ બુર્સ સહિતની Special Notified Zones માં રફ ડાયમંડનું ટ્રેડિંગ કરતી વિદેશી કંપનીઓને 31 માર્ચ 2041 સુધી 15 વર્ષ માટે ઇન્કમ ટેક્સ માં છૂટ મળશે.

આ નિર્ણયથી:
ભારતમાં રફ ડાયમંડનું વૈશ્વિક ટ્રેડિંગ વધશે, તેમ સુરતનું વૈશ્વિક મહત્વ વધુ મજબૂત થશે.
વિદેશી માઇનિંગ કંપની, સાઇટ હોલ્ડર અને ઓક્શન કરતી કંપનીઓ માટે ભારતમાં ડાયરેક્ટ ટ્રેડિંગ કરવું સરળ બનશે.
સમગ્ર ભારતીય ડાયમંડ ઇન્ડસ્ટ્રીને ને લાભ મળશે.

આ મહત્વપૂર્ણ નિર્ણય બદલ SDBના ચેરમેન શ્રી ગોવિંદભાઈ ધોળકિયાએ માનનીય કેન્દ્રીય નાણામંત્રીને મળીને સમગ્ર હીરા ઉદ્યોગ તરફથી આભાર વ્યક્ત કર્યો.

ભારત સરકારના આ મહત્વપૂર્ણ અને ઐતિહાસિક નિર્ણય બદલ સુરત ડાયમંડ બુર્સ હાર્દિક આભાર વ્યક્ત કરે છે.

Hon’ble Shri Manish Kulhary, IRS Visits Surat Diamond Bourse.

Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) had the privilege of welcoming Shri Manish Kulhary, IRS, Commissioner of , Ahmedabad.

The visit included a physical tour and debriefing at SIDC, followed by a detailed presentation on SIDC’s workflow and operations at the GJEPC India Conference Hall.

The delegation also visited SRK’s office, offering an insight into Surat’s excellence in diamond manufacturing and the global leadership of one of India’s leading exporters of cut and polished diamonds.

The visit concluded with a tour of the Customs House facility at Surat Diamond Bourse, providing an overview of its operations and facilities.

During his visit, Shri Manish Kulhary shared his thoughts in the SDB Visitor Book:

સુરત ડાયમંડ બુર્સ ખાતે "ચોવિહાર હાઉસ અને ભોજનશાળા"નું ભવ્ય લોકાર્પણ સંપન્ન

તા. 20 જુલાઈ, 2026ના રોજ સુરત ડાયમંડ બુર્સ ખાતે ચોવિહાર હાઉસ અને ભોજનશાળાનું શુભ લોકાર્પણ કરવામાં આવ્યું.

આ સેવા કાર્યનો મુખ્ય હેતુ સુરત ડાયમંડ બુર્સમાં આવતા સભ્યો, વેપારીઓ, કર્મચારીઓ અને મુલાકાતીઓને સ્વચ્છ, સાત્વિક અને ચોવિહારને અનુરૂપ ભોજનની સુવિધા ઉપલબ્ધ કરાવવાનો છે.

Grand Inauguration of the Chovihar House & Bhojanshala at Surat Diamond Bourse

On 20 July 2026, the Chovihar House & Dining Hall was ceremoniously inaugurated at Surat Diamond Bourse.

The primary objective of this noble initiative is to provide clean, wholesome, and Jain Chovihar-compliant meals to members, traders, employees, and visitors at Surat Diamond Bourse.

Hon'ble Minister Shri Jayant Chaudhary (Jayant Singh) Visits Surat Diamond Bourse

Surat Diamond Bourse had the privilege of welcoming Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Hon'ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Hon'ble Members of Parliament from the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

During the visit, the delegation toured the Surat Diamond Bourse campus and gained insights into its world-class infrastructure, modern facilities, and the vibrant ecosystem that supports India's diamond industry. The visit highlighted SDB's role in promoting trade, innovation, and skill development while strengthening India's position as a global diamond and gem trading hub.

Mayaben Mavani, Hon'ble Mayor, Surat Municipal Corporation; Shri Sudhakar Chaudhari, Deputy Mayor, SMC; Shri Rajan Patel, Standing Committee Chairman, SMC; Smt. Alpa Mehta, Leader of the Ruling Party, SMC; along with the Corporators of Surat Municipal Corporation - SMC, during their visit to SDB.

Surat Diamond Bourse had the honour of hosting H.E. Mr. Simon Wong Wie Kuen, High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to India, along with a high-level delegation.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Vice President Mr. Asheshbhai Doshi. During the visit, they explored the world-class infrastructure, green building features, and key facilities of Surat Diamond Bourse.
