At Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation Ltd, Tuticorin Alkali Chemicals and Fertilizers, and Greenstar Fertilizers Limited, our townships are communities shaped by people, families, and traditions. Our Founder Chairman, Dr. MA Chidambaram, believed, “Factory lives in the township. If we take care of our people, they will take care of our business.”

The S**C Multi Activity Centre (SMAC) plays a central role in keeping this spirit alive by creating moments that bring all residents together, across ages and generations.

This November, SMAC once again demonstrated how meaningful celebrations strengthen the sense of belonging that defines our township life.

> On 14 November, SMAC organised Children’s Day celebrations that brought together over 150 young participants for an afternoon filled with joy. Due to unexpected rain, the event shifted indoors to ensure the children could continue enjoying the day without interruption. However, the excitement remained unabated. The children participated in a variety of games that encouraged teamwork and creativity. The celebrations were made even more special with the distribution of snacks and chocolates, leaving every child with fond memories of a day designed entirely around their happiness.

> On 15 and 16 November, we celebrated International Men’s Day.
This event attracted over 20 enthusiastic participants, with over 70 spectators cheering them on. Another highlight of the celebration was debate session, ‘SMAC Live – The Truman Show’. The event was adjudged by Professor K. Pazhani, famous stand-up comic and former contestant of Vijay TV’s popular show, Kalakka Povadhu Yaaru. The topic of the debate was “Bachelorhood or Marriage: What Defines True Contentment?” The atmosphere across both days was marked by friendly competitions, energetic sportsmanship, and moments of shared laughter. Special refreshments made the observance even more memorable while fostering a sense of camaraderie.

Both events were a testament to the sense of solidarity, connection, and affinity that is the hallmark of our townships.
