What Is FSSAI, And Why Do We Need It?

FSSAI is a regulatory body under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare of the Government of India, working towards Food Safety. FSSAI also defines what goes on, and what stays away from, the packaging and labelling of the packaged food product. It is a mandatory license required by every food manufacturer in India.

What is "Extended Use" in Packaging?

According to experts, "Extended Packaging" means having the user/consume/buyer interact with your package and redirecting them to online info about your product or your website and so on. But in the physical world the concept has an entirely different meaning.

Imagine you go to a mall, pick up your favourite coffee pack and bring it home. Now either you keep using the pack itself everytime you scoop some coffee or, you empty the contents into your own jar and discard the packaging. At this point, all the hardwork and resources that went into creating that little pack, it's graphics, the little details and all those hours you and your team spent on it, everything.. starts going into the dustbin. At this point, your hardwork starts turning into a headache called garbage. But what if..!

But what if, you designed that little pack to do more than just carry that much coffee?! What if, it could turn into a cup which could be used atleast twice before discarding. What if, it could turn into a miniature board game of chess or even Scrabble! The consumer could enjoy the coffee as well as the pack. That, to me, is actual extended use of a package.
