Applause Vadodara - Theatre and Art Theatre enthusiasts from various professions work by day and meet in the evenings to realize their theatre aspirations.

Applause Vadodara is a theatre initiative with an age-no-bar, gender-no-bar, language-no-bar type of philosophy with a mission to engage, empower and entertain through innovative Theatre experiences. Applause Vadodara is Vadodara’s first and the most unique theatre initiative open for all - with an age no bar, language no bar, gender no bar and profession no bar type of participation. Applause started as a page connecting theatre enthusisasts together in 2012, and emerged as a group by 2014, hosting workshops of Dramatics, and writing and producing plays. In the last two years Applause has created various properties such as the annual 10-Day theatre workshop ‘Step on Stage’, ‘Paper Poets’ and ‘Pen Stories’, connecting people to art, culture and theatre. The “Applause Theatre Yatra” being one of the most recent additions, where in groups of participants engage in theatre experiences through travel, outside the city. This year Applause hosted a two-city, three day Storytelling Festival in May, 2016 across Vadodara and Ahmadabad, through 8 events for different age groups. Applause has also collaborated with a number of agencies for various regular theatre programs for children and adults. Artists from Applause Vadodara have performed at various theatre festivals across the country such as Bharat Rang Mahotsav (NSD, Delhi) and Chitralekha Natya Sparda (Mumbai) and have also mentored college and school students to actively engage in Dramatics. Applause Vadodara aims to create value in society via theatre and connect more and more people to art.

‘Swachchta he sanskar hai’

All messages tell us to maintain ‘cleanliness’. But this time we had a play with a slightly different resonance to it: That swachchata is sanskar, it is a culture.

Maybe we still have a long way to go, but we are working on inculcating the values within our society and voicing out the need for collective action.

Thank you city of Vadodara for the wonderful response and the inclusive, talented team of Applause Vadodara.

Theatre is a medium of expression and understanding self. This is clearly an application of theatre to our lives.

Guest Facilitator: Mohit Tahiliani
Mohit is a renowned life coach & Spiritual Manifestation Coach with over 30,000+ students across the world, striving to help individuals better their lives since 2015, offering numerous programs for growth through his organisation Mind Body Soul, all year through.

He will be assisting our journey to navigate self-love, on Day 1 of the workshop.

Pantomime is a way to imagine and submit to process. You can't be a bystander if you want to experience the power of it. Apsara will take you through space, movement, possibilities and emotions

Theatre of Dreams is a way to come together and find out how similar we truly are.....
.. And yet we go back and forth with inter-personal relationships and social conversations. We'll dive into role-play and scene work, to gain perspective.

About Apsara Iyengar: Apsara is an actor, writer, director working as an artist since 2012. She's been a mentor for numerous theatre programs for all ages. Her work was celebrated at Kalaghoda Arts Festival, 2018 for the play 'The Cake Story'. She has written for Theatre Gym London, and been a mentor for Playback Nigeria International Children's Festival.

Besides this, she has always been a curious learner, having completed the Acting Residency at the Indian Institute of Educational Theatre, Mysore (Jan, 2026) and the Comic Acting Program at Film and Television Institute (FTII), Pune (Oct, 2024). On a blue moon night, she rides a Royal Enfield, and when it's time to celebrate, she will take everyone to a trampoline park! She's always up for long drives and new experiences, such as an impromptu 17KM trek.

The third week of August brought to you "6 Viewpoints" by Mary Overlie.

Anne Bogart and Tina Landau later adapted and expanded Viewpoints for actor/ensemble training.

Actors explore Space, Shape, Time, Emotion, Movement and Story as separate theatrical elements. Instead of starting with character psychology, you let these elements generate the performance.

The Greatest Teachers

It’s the day to appreciate those from whom we learn - Teachers. We watch their lives closely, set them as examples and also learn from thier journeys and struggles.

We are doing 3 posts today.

Now that we have acknowledged the medium, the invisible teachers, let's acknowledge the final, last but not least: peers

Who do you discuss your teacher with? Who do you compare notes with? And who brings the vision to life?

In someway we and the peers together carry the work of our teachers forward.

This teacher's day, a shout-out to the volunteers who have learnt and worked hard and stepped -in to share what they have learnt from time -to -time.

As co-mentors in workshosp, as directors to projects, and even as co-actors.

Today, simultaneously, numerous projects are ongoing with the actors of Applause Vadodara. Many have shot reel series, made short films, formed independent groups, pursued professional projects and it's all started _here_ .

We learn with our peers and we learn at our _alma mater_

A shout-out to actors and teammates at Applause Vadodara, and to Applause Vadodara for existing!
