A team from the Supply Chain Management Centre of IIM Bangalore, which is undertaking a research study in association with South Central Railway (SCR) to understand freight movement patterns and identify opportunities to increase rail’s modal share, met representatives of AP Chambers on 18 August 2026 at the Chambers’ Secretariat and sought the industry’s views on freight transportation, challenges in using rail. and opportunities for increasing rail freight.

AP Chambers put forth several suggestions, including freight aggregation centres at major industrial clusters, the need for strengthening first-mile and last-mile connectivity between industrial units, warehouses and railway terminals, establishing Mini Inland Container Depots (Mini ICDs) and rail-linked freight terminals at important industrial hubs, and greater integration between railways, ports, road transport, warehouses and Multimodal Logistics Parks (MMLPs).

AP Chambers – Power Market Workshop

AP Chambers, in collaboration with the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX), successfully organised an exclusive Workshop on the Power Market on 13 August 2026 in Vijayawada.

The workshop provided valuable insights to industries with contracted demand of 1,000 kW and above on power procurement strategies, cost optimisation, power market participation, regulatory updates, bidding processes and the benefits of purchasing power through IEX.

As per the directions of the Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Shri M. Sri Bharat Garu, a Special Employment Drive was Successfully organized today at Visakhapatnam Airport by the AP Chambers of Commerce & Industry Federation – Visakhapatnam Zone in association with the Hotels & Restaurants Association of Andhra Pradesh (HRAAP) and with the support of the Airports Authority of India Visakhapatnam Airport.

Key Highlights

-Around 450 candidates participated.
-100 Candidates were selected for immediate employment.
-150 Candidates were shortlisted for the final round of interviews.

We are pleased to inform you that the first-ever exclusive SLBC Meeting on “MSME Credit Flow & Financing Issues”, convened at the request of AP Chambers, was successfully held on 06 Aug 2026 at the AP Secretariat.

The meeting was chaired by Hon’ble Minister for MSME Sri Kondapalli Srinivas Garu and attended by senior officials from the Government and banking sector, including Dr. N. Yuvraj, IAS, Principal Secretary, Industries Department; Sri M. Vishwa, CEO, AP MSME Development Corporation; SLBC Convenor; Zonal Heads of banks; and other senior officials.

AP Chambers delegation, led by Sri Potluri Bhaskara Rao President, along with Sri B. Raja Sekhar EVP and other representatives, actively participated in the discussions. The delegation also included representatives from 11 affiliated industry associations, who collectively represented the concerns of the MSME ecosystem across the State.

🔹 Key issues highlighted:
• Excess collateral demands by banks
• Delays & rejections in CGTMSE loans
• Need for stronger TReDS adoption for timely payments
• Requirement of a state grievance redressal portal for MSMEs
• Concerns on CIBIL scores & credit rating impact on MSME loans

A detailed written representation with policy suggestions was submitted to the Government and SLBC, focusing on improving credit flow and strengthening institutional support for MSMEs.

AP Chambers, as the Supporting Chamber & Industry Association, partnered with the Bharat Chamber of Commerce, Kolkata, and the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, Government of India, in organising the State-Level MSME Conclave on "India's Defence Sector: A New Era for MSMEs" at Tirupati on 15 July 2026

Delivering the Welcome Address, Er. B. Raja Sekhar, Executive Vice-President, AP Chambers, highlighted Andhra Pradesh's emergence as a preferred destination for aerospace and defence manufacturing. He emphasised that such outreach initiatives would enable MSMEs to integrate into India's growing defence ecosystem, participate in global supply chains, and contribute to the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

The conclave provided valuable insights into emerging opportunities in defence manufacturing, exports, and indigenous production, encouraging MSMEs to explore the rapidly expanding defence sector.

AP Chambers, in collaboration with the COWE AP Chapter, conducted an awareness workshop on ZED (Zero Defect Zero Effect), GEM (Greening Entrepreneurship & the Ecosystem), and Lean Management on 09 July 2026 at the AP Chambers office in Vijayawada. Experts briefed the participants on ZED, GEM, Lean Management, and BIS certifications, equipping them with knowledge to enhance quality, sustainability, and competitiveness in their enterprises. Around 70 entrepreneurs participated in the workshop. The Chief Guest was Mr. A.V. Subramanyam, Managing Director of Deepak Nexgen Feeds Pvt. Ltd..
