🗺️📍 Web GIS Classroom & Field Demonstration Training 🌿💻

Held on 20–21 March 2025 at the GIS Cell, PMU, Kohima, a two-day Web GIS Training was conducted for FMU Heads, DMU Support Staff, FNGO Natural Nagas, Field Staff of Wokha Divisional Management Unit.

The training focused on enhancing spatial data handling, field mapping, and digital monitoring skills—vital tools for sustainable forest and resource management. Special thanks to the GIS Cell & PMU Team for organizing this impactful session.

The group was led by Group Leader - 𝘚𝘩𝘳𝘪 𝘔𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘓𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘴 𝘏𝘶𝘮𝘵𝘴𝘰𝘦, 𝘋𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘌𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘵 and assisted by Assistant Group Leader - 𝘚𝘩𝘳𝘪 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘶𝘯𝘨, 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘖𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳

🌿📍 Field Visit of PMC & ROJB Team under NFMP 📍🌿

The Project Management Consultants (PMC) & Resource Organisation for Jhum and Biodiversity (ROJB) team - 𝘚𝘩𝘳𝘪 𝘗𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘫𝘢𝘯 𝘔𝘰𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘳𝘢 – 𝘛𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳, 𝘗𝘔𝘊-𝘕𝘍𝘔𝘗, 𝘋𝘳. 𝘈𝘳𝘶𝘯 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘪 𝘋𝘪𝘹𝘪𝘵 – 𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘌𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘵, 𝘗𝘔𝘊-𝘕𝘍𝘔𝘗 and staff, conducted a visit to Wokha Division in Feb 2025 under the Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP - JICA) as part of their ongoing initiatives.

The visit included - exploring management plans of PEC (Protection and Expansion of CCA) areas; discussions with JFMCs, FMU, FNGO & DMU on strategic planning; identifying potential eco-tourism locations and field orientation.

The visit facilitated interactive sessions with FMU Head - 𝘔𝘴 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘒𝘪𝘬𝘰𝘯, 𝘙𝘍𝘖, 𝘞𝘰𝘬𝘩𝘢 𝘙𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦, DMU Support Staff, FNGO - 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘕𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘴 at Wokha Division office, ensuring better planning and ex*****on of sustainable forestry initiatives. The team also visited Tssentsü SHG Outlet, where locally produced goods were showcased. 🛍️🌾

🌿✨ JFMC & SHG Review Meeting - Phiro & Yanthamo villages ✨🌿

In Jan 2025, the DMU team led by Ms. Abeno Ovung, Planning & Livelihood Expert, along with FNGO - Natural Nagas representatives, visited Phiro & Yanthamo Villages for the JFMC Monthly Review Meeting for December 2024.

💡 Simultaneously, a Self-Help Groups (SHG) meeting was conducted, where the first SHG loan revolving fund installment was officially handed over to the JFMC Presidents of both villages.

This initiative strengthens community-driven forest management while fostering economic empowerment through SHGs. Looking forward to greater impact and progress! 🌱💪

🌿✨ Inauguration of Tssentsü SHG Outlet ✨🌿

Honored to have Shri Vedpal Singh, IFS, PCCF & CWLW, Nagaland, inaugurate the Tssentsü Nature Outlet in the presence of Mrs. Zuthunglo Patton, IFS, CF (STC), Nagaland, Shri Vineet Kumar, IAS, DC Wokha, and Shri Suman W M Sivachar, IFS, DFO Wokha & Doyang.

"Tssentsü", meaning precious in the Lotha dialect, is a common outlet for all Self Help Groups adopted under Wokha Division, covering NFMP and FBMP-KfW projects. This initiative is set to enhance market linkages, boost product production, improve packaging, and enable testing of nutritional values for SHG products.

A big step towards strengthening SHG-driven livelihoods and promoting sustainable growth in the region! 💪🌱

🌱 Engaging Communities in N. Longidang: PRA Activities 🌱

Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) activity updates from N. Longidang village. Our JFMC, Village Microplan team, and SHGs are fully immersed in the process, fostering sustainable development and community involvement.

Leading the way is Ms. Grace Kikon, RFO and FMU Head, Wokha Range, who, along with the committed FNGO - Natural Nagas Team Leader Ms. Ethel and their team, are coordinating efforts with DMU Support staff and FMU staff to ensure the success of this initiative.

🌱 Journey towards Sustainable Forestry: JFMC Formation in Mungya Village 🤝🌳

We are happy to share with you a glimpse of the formation in May 2023 of the Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC) in Mungya Village.

By forming these committees, we aim to foster better communication and collaboration among the community members and the Forest Department, enabling a participatory approach towards sustainable forestry and conservation. The efforts were led by Ms Ethel, Team Leader, FNGO Natural Nagas and team in presence of DMU support staff and FMU Head Shri Lansothung Lotha, RFO 🌍💚

🌱💡 Team Effort: Behind the Scenes at NFMP-JICA, Wokha 🌳🙌

We're back with another behind-the-scenes glimpse from May 2023 of the dedication and hard work that goes into the NFMP-JICA project in Wokha.

Over a weekend, our devoted DMU team, led by Shri Mhabemo Lapon & Ms. Abeno Ovung, FNGOs spearheaded by Ms. Ethel & Ms. Zuchan and team from Natural Nagas, and our accounts assistant, Shri Mhonbemo Patton, toiled tirelessly. They dived deep into accounting procedures, showcasing their commitment to the project.

A big shout-out to the host, Shri Hosia Kikon, for his support, hospitality, and the pictures that capture our team's determination and camaraderie. 💪🏼

📝🌳 Annual Review Meeting 2022-2023: Progress, Perspectives, and Planning for a Sustainable Future 🍃💡

On May 5, 2023, the Divisional Management Unit (DMU) Wokha convened for an insightful Annual Review Meeting. Held at the Forest Community Hall, Wokha, the gathering was marked by the presence of key figures from our team including DMU Head - Shri. Suman W M Sivachar IFS, the then DFO Doyang Plantation Division - Shri Tokugha Chophy, ADMU Head - Shri. Siechutho Katiry, and FMU Heads - Ms. Grace Kikon and Shri. Lansothung Lotha. The meeting was also enriched by the involvement of DMU Support Staff, FNGOs, JFMCs, SHGs, Village Council Members, and PMC Team members.

A comprehensive review of the activities of the NFMP JICA project was presented, providing valuable insights into the work executed under Forestry Intervention and Institutional Strengthening, updates on revolving funds loan repayment, status of GIS/MIS & Mobile application, and much more.

From the progress in livelihood activities to updates on FMU's efforts, the meeting provided a holistic overview of the strides made in the year 2022-2023 and outlined our action plan for 2023-2024.

A special thanks to Shri. Pranab R Choudhury, PMC Team Leader, for his encouraging words and suggestions for documenting our unique initiatives and techniques.
