COLORS COMPANY HISTORY
1984 THE ESTABLISHMENT YEAR
The company started with small retail outlet located at Al Karada. The outlet was mainly offering stationary materials with high quality unique brands from many international companies.
1989 THE VERTICAL EXPANSION
In the first five years of operations colors started expanding its products and services by trading in gifts and some unique i
tems of stationary. The number of items has increased to 2000 items so the company opened another big retail and wholesale outlet located also at Al Karada area in the heart of Baghdad, by that Colors have expanded its activities by adding more products and covering the wholesale market by supplying many other clients.
1994 THE HORIZONTAL EXPANSION
During the early 90s and specifically at 1994 the management inspired by its ambition to grow by introducing several initiatives to improve the business and increase investment, therefore, a new wholesale outlet was established at Al Mutanbi the major area of stationery and books market in Baghdad. The new wholesale outlet was established to cover the market needs in most of the Iraqi cities.
1996 EXPANDING OPERATIONS AND MARKET SHARE
In the late 1996 the company has expanded its operations by opening an office in Dubai the capital of business in the Middle East in order to expand its operations in terms of international purchases and have easier access to many recognized agencies and brands in which Colors targeting to represent in Iraq.
2000 IMPROVING THE VERTICAL EXPANSION
In the early 2000, Colors has increased its products range by covering many items in the categories of advertising items and gifts.
2009 MAJOR CHANGE IN COLORS VISION
In January 2009, Colors board of directors designed a new future plan and implemented new processes and policies in terms of directing the investments of the company, applying new motivation programs for employees, designing new accounting system, focusing on certain items, supporting the outdoor sales by targeting the governmental sector, schools, supermarkets, and malls expanding for more cities through increasing the channels of distribution, targeting new multinational brands to represent in Iraq, and making new loyalty program for the customers in the retail branches.
2010 NEW HORIZENTAL EXPANDING PLAN and Brands
Colors board of directors decided to launch a new plan to expand the company horizontally by opening a new retail or wholesale branch every year, the plan started by opening a new branch in Al Tarbia street Erbil the business capital of the Iraqi Kurdistan and this region is located at the northern part of Iraq and another new branch at Tablo Mall / Erbil. From the other hand the company started a new plan by collecting a basket of various multinational stationery brands to be represented in Iraq such as the bruynzeel-sakura, Colors is currently negotiating some other brands to be added under its brands’ portfolio.
