....and group members are willing to do this when they trust the leader. How do you learn to trust a leader? When they listen to you, they respond to you with respect, they keep their agreements, they seek out your input, they collaborate with you.

Here is some unsolicited feedback on this post that's pretty powerful--from an LET Graduate and supporter of the Gordon Model:

"Yes, yes, yes! In my view and experience, true active listening is the core and key element in great leadership, effective diversity inclusion, and overall effective human relating, personally and professionally. I first truly learned listening skills through the Gordon Model many, many, years ago. The engagement skills and capabilities I developed were instrumental to my career success as a global leader, people manager, and team member. To this day, I continue to work at it because the engagement situations and people that we encounter on a daily basis are dynamic and ever changing. So yes, I am an unabashed advocate of active listening and the Gordon Model in particular because my success in life is proof...and no, I was not asked to write this."
