Sensible view by the minister. However, offshore oil exploration in Icelandic waters is very expensive, and the Icelandic tax system is far from being competitive when f.ex. comparing to what applies in the Norwegian zone. Thus it is no surprise that there has been little interest in Icelandic oil exploration.
