La Pentima della Vecchiaccia 🍃

Take path 511 from the Fratte Ignoranti and in less than 30 minutes you will arrive to one of the best views of Lake Albano.

This stunning overlook comes with its own thrills and stories. The legend goes that in ancient times an elderly woman was accused of witchcraft, and unable to withstand the accusations, she threw herself off this precipice. They say if you lean over far enough, not only can you still hear her screams but also her taunts to follow her…

Honored to be included in “Dal Vulcano al Calice: il volto femminile del vino laziale” in DNews, Il Corriere Vinicolo.

It’s a privilege to be included among a group of women working in viticulture across Lazio, each with their own vision and connection to the territory.

A heartfelt thank you to for this insightful piece and for telling our stories.

If you’ve spent time in the Castelli Romani, you may have crossed paths with Luigi. I often see him near the woods or along the roadside in Albano, feeding wild animals — even boars — or driving his car decorated with dried flowers and pieces of the forest.
I ran into him today during a trail run, and somehow, we fell into a conversation about the state of the world — and how it brought back memories of his past. His mother and brother were killed during the bombing of Albano in WWII.
It’s unsettling to hear world leaders speak so casually about destruction, and even more so to see people grow used to it.
But there, in the quiet of the woods — between Luigi’s love for animals, the cyclamen tucked into his hat, and his gentle way of being — I left feeling unexpectedly uplifted.

When I first moved to the Castelli Romani, the first thing I noticed was the air—clean, fresh, free from the pollution in Rome. I was lucky to live in a top-floor apartment with a 360° terrace, where the breeze flowed through and the view stretched all the way to the sea.

My kids spent hours playing on the terrace, and in the summer, we dined outside. In the winter, the apartment’s large windows in every room filled the space with beautiful natural light, and we could always watch the sunset even in the coldest months.

We no longer live there, but we’ve turned the apartment into a short-term rental. If you—or someone you know—are looking for a short let/vacation rental in the Castelli Romani, save this post!

✨ Sunset Terrace - Penthouse apartment with direct elevator access
• 3 bedrooms
• 1.5 bathrooms
• Full kitchen & living room & breakfast nook/work area
• Stunning 360° terrace

Running to see the tadpoles at Fontana Tempesta 🐸
Thanks to the winter rains, this spring is flowing again and creating the perfect habitat for amphibian life.
During a run along Trail/CAI 512 from Genzano, I got to see it for myself: flowing water and pools full of tiny tadpoles, along with views, scents, and sounds that capture the beauty of the Castelli Romani

Warmer temperatures and lighter day, spring is starting to show. It means a lot more hours spent gardening, weeding and cutting grass at home, but I much prefer outdoor chores rather than being indoors and looking at my phone. We must have had romantics living here before me who planted spring flowers and camellias to make it all look so dreamy this time of year. Pearl makes it all the cuter.

Tucked away in a courtyard just off the main street of Genzano, Azzocchi dal 1964 is a long-standing institution. Part traditional norcineria and butcher, part enoteca and neighborhood eatery, it’s a local favorite where pork specialties, selected wines and artisanal products come together under one roof. Check out what makes this place so special.

Tucked away in a courtyard just off the main street of Genzano, Azzocchi is a local favorite that blends good food friendly service, and quality products.

Happy St. Valentine’s Day 💘

Putti - chubby, winged child figures—are embossed into rare 17th-century Cordovan leather wall hangings in Palazzo Chigi in Ariccia. These richly decorated panels line many rooms, and some designs are attributed to the workshop of Gian Lorenzo Bernini.

Putti are playful messengers of love — may these little spirits of love send you happiness today! 💖

We are entering the heart of Carnevale 2026 — Fat Week has begun, and the Castelli Romani is ready with parades, masks, and celebrations.
While Venice and Viareggio get the spotlight, our hill towns know how to have fun too.

Carnevale comes alive in the Castelli Romani. Colorful parades, traditions and confetti fill the streets. Here are hte main celebrations I love
