Pope Leo XIV was in the Apostolic Palace in Castel Gandolfo for over three weeks this summer. I didn’t attend the masses he held in the square, but did get a glimpse of the Swiss Guard while he was here.

🍷🌊 What happens when wine spends six months underwater?
In the Cantina Subacquea Sperimentale (Experimental Underwater Cellar) project, bottles from 13 wineries—including my Jacobini —were aged 15 meters beneath Lake Nemi. Last week they were brought back up to the surface and compared with traditionally aged wines.
The project was the brainchild of Josè Amici and brought together a vast network of local producers, natural resources, public institutions, and eight municipalities across the Castelli Romani.

The tasting was led by the one and only Umberto Bebbo Trombelli

Infiorata di Genzano di Roma 2026 🌸
A few of my favorite panels and moments from this year’s festival.

The famous Infiorata of Genzano is on this weekend. 🌸

On Sunday, the town is packed and in full festival mode, with visitors gathering to admire the stunning carpet of flowers.

However, my favorite day is Monday, when a local folkloric group in period costume bring the town’s history to life during their traditional procession. 🌺

La Pentima della Vecchiaccia 🍃

Take path 511 from the Fratte Ignoranti and in less than 30 minutes you will arrive to one of the best views of Lake Albano.

This stunning overlook comes with its own thrills and stories. The legend goes that in ancient times an elderly woman was accused of witchcraft, and unable to withstand the accusations, she threw herself off this precipice. They say if you lean over far enough, not only can you still hear her screams but also her taunts to follow her…

Honored to be included in “Dal Vulcano al Calice: il volto femminile del vino laziale” in DNews, Il Corriere Vinicolo.

It’s a privilege to be included among a group of women working in viticulture across Lazio, each with their own vision and connection to the territory.

A heartfelt thank you to for this insightful piece and for telling our stories.

If you’ve spent time in the Castelli Romani, you may have crossed paths with Luigi. I often see him near the woods or along the roadside in Albano, feeding wild animals — even boars — or driving his car decorated with dried flowers and pieces of the forest.
I ran into him today during a trail run, and somehow, we fell into a conversation about the state of the world — and how it brought back memories of his past. His mother and brother were killed during the bombing of Albano in WWII.
It’s unsettling to hear world leaders speak so casually about destruction, and even more so to see people grow used to it.
But there, in the quiet of the woods — between Luigi’s love for animals, the cyclamen tucked into his hat, and his gentle way of being — I left feeling unexpectedly uplifted.

When I first moved to the Castelli Romani, the first thing I noticed was the air—clean, fresh, free from the pollution in Rome. I was lucky to live in a top-floor apartment with a 360° terrace, where the breeze flowed through and the view stretched all the way to the sea.

My kids spent hours playing on the terrace, and in the summer, we dined outside. In the winter, the apartment’s large windows in every room filled the space with beautiful natural light, and we could always watch the sunset even in the coldest months.

We no longer live there, but we’ve turned the apartment into a short-term rental. If you—or someone you know—are looking for a short let/vacation rental in the Castelli Romani, save this post!
