Living within the Castelli Romani Regional Park means sharing our surroundings with some very cool native wildlife. We spot woodpeckers, wild boar, hedgehogs and other animals.

The other night, coming home late, we spotted an istrice (crested porcupine) strolling down our driveway. Love the little feet! 🦔

Contrary to popular belief, these porcupines don’t shoot their quills. We often find a few quills scattered around our property, reminders of the wild side of life here in the Castelli Romani. 🌿

Harvest 2026 ✂️🍇

It was an extremely hot summer here in the Castelli Romani and therefore the grape harvest in many areas started earlier than the norm. We have the canopy growing method at our farm, so our grapes had extra protection and shade from the sun, but were still affected by the heat. We have about another week to go before we are all finished; it can take us about 4 weeks to complete the harvest, and we have about 6-10 people a day harvesting our grapes by hand. 💪

🌲Art, nature & spectacular views in the woods of Monte Cavo!

Have you discovered Rocca di Papa’s Museo Diffuso del Bosco? This open-air museum brings contemporary art to Monte Cavo and the historic Via Sacra, with 5 installations hidden among the trees, from a giant wooden sculpture to Corten-steel animals and a dreamy new viewpoint. 🌳🎨

It’s part art trail, part nature walk, and part adventure—with some incredible views of the Castelli Romani along the way.

Pope Leo XIV was in the Apostolic Palace in Castel Gandolfo for over three weeks this summer. I didn’t attend the masses he held in the square, but did get a glimpse of the Swiss Guard while he was here.

🍷🌊 What happens when w**e spends six months underwater?
In the Cantina Subacquea Sperimentale (Experimental Underwater Cellar) project, bottles from 13 w**eries—including my Jacobini —were aged 15 meters beneath Lake Nemi. Last week they were brought back up to the surface and compared with traditionally aged w**es.
The project was the brainchild of Josè Amici and brought together a vast network of local producers, natural resources, public institutions, and eight municipalities across the Castelli Romani.

The tasting was led by the one and only Umberto Bebbo Trombelli

The famous Infiorata of Genzano is on this weekend. 🌸

On Sunday, the town is packed and in full festival mode, with visitors gathering to admire the stunning carpet of flowers.

However, my favorite day is Monday, when a local folkloric group in period costume bring the town’s history to life during their traditional procession. 🌺

La Pentima della Vecchiaccia 🍃

Take path 511 from the Fratte Ignoranti and in less than 30 minutes you will arrive to one of the best views of Lake Albano.

This stunning overlook comes with its own thrills and stories. The legend goes that in ancient times an elderly woman was accused of witchcraft, and unable to withstand the accusations, she threw herself off this precipice. They say if you lean over far enough, not only can you still hear her screams but also her taunts to follow her…
