Ancestral - Acrylic on canvas - 150x100 cm - 2007

🧬 Nothing is more unique in my artistic career than the story of this particular painting.
- The name "Ancestral" was not given by me but by a dear friend who, seeing it for the first time, identified it as a primitive representation of the male figure in itself. Ancestral, and prior to any form of embellishment or spoiling instituted by society and subjective taste.

💡 And if this were not already sufficiently unique, given its stylistic uniqueness among my works, there is to consider that its realization happened on the spot, on a summer afternoon, without warning, when, like a lightning bolt, in the immobility of the sofa at home, I was struck by this very clear vision in my mind. Flashed with open eyes when the mind was more empty of thoughts, lobotomized by the images on television.

💭 Art, the real one, from the experience I have, is something that hits you by surprise or that you just accumulate and can't hold back anymore. Everything else is reproduction and mere work.

Hope as an engine of realisation.

✿ The most beautiful flower symbolising the ultimate goal, a bright, warm red to invigorate the soul.

🖌 The quick, sand-thickened brushstrokes, applied in a rush on a large canvas, fix the optimistic promise in time and stimulate one to persevere in one's goals.

A eulogy to confidence and perseverance.
