È iniziata la vendemmia del Merlot, e questa sarà ricordata come un’annata da record. È la vendemmia più precoce di sempre, diretta conseguenza del cambiamento climatico. Nel 2016 raccoglievamo il Merlot il 26 settembre; oggi, a distanza di soli dieci anni, abbiamo anticipato i tempi di esattamente un mese.
L’uva si presenta in ottimo stato fitosanitario e di maturazione, ma i vigneti soffrono, e con loro soffre l’intero settore agricolo. Serve un cambio di rotta importante, prima che sia troppo tardi.
Nel frattempo, buona vendemmia a tutti. Perché la vendemmia non è il semplice atto di raccogliere l’uva: significa raccogliere i frutti di un intero anno di sacrifici, preoccupazioni, incertezze, sveglie all’alba e mani sporche di terra.

The Merlot harvest has begun, and this will be remembered as a record-breaking year. It’s the earliest harvest ever, a direct consequence of climate change. In 2016, we harvested Merlot on September 26th; today, just ten years later, we’ve brought forward the harvest by exactly one month.
The grapes are in excellent health and ripeness, but the vineyards are suffering, and with them, the entire agricultural sector. A major change of direction is needed before it’s too late.
In the meantime, happy harvesting to everyone. Because harvesting isn’t just the act of picking grapes: it means reaping the fruits of an entire year of sacrifice, worry, uncertainty, early morning wake-ups, and dirty hands.
