𝑰𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝑰𝒎𝒆𝒗𝒂 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒔 — 𝑹𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒗𝒂𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑬𝒙𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑩𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒓

At the ASPI worksite on the A16 Naples–Canosa motorway, the removal of the existing barriers involved reinforced concrete New Jersey devices.

The operations were carried out using suitable mechanical equipment, with particular attention to preserving the adjacent structures.

The activities included:
• detachment of the metal anchoring elements
• lifting and handling of the elements
• transfer to the designated storage areas managed by the client

A necessary operational phase to prepare the area for the following activities: controlled demolition, structural restoration and installation of the new restraint systems.

𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗲𝘃𝗮 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 — 𝗟𝗮 𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗼𝘇𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲

Nel cantiere ASPI sulla A16 Napoli–Canosa, la rimozione delle barriere esistenti ha riguardato dispositivi tipo New Jersey in calcestruzzo armato.

Le operazioni sono state eseguite mediante mezzi meccanici idonei, con particolare attenzione alla salvaguardia delle strutture limitrofe.

Le attività hanno previsto:
• distacco degli elementi metallici di ancoraggio
• sollevamento e movimentazione dei manufatti
• trasferimento negli appositi depositi di gestione della committenza

Una fase operativa necessaria per predisporre l’area alle successive lavorazioni di demolizione controllata, ripristino strutturale e installazione dei nuovi dispositivi di ritenuta.

In road safety, the term New Jersey refers to a barrier with a specific profile, designed to separate traffic flows and contribute to vehicle containment and redirection in the event of an impact.

Used in both permanent and temporary applications, this type of device is often associated with carriageway separation and work zone protection.

In modern infrastructure design, however, what matters is not only the barrier geometry, but also its certified performance according to applicable testing standards.

Because road safety depends on solutions designed for specific protection and containment requirements.

In road infrastructure design, the selection of road barriers and restraint systems is a key factor in defining the safety performance of the overall project.
Choosing the most appropriate solution requires careful consideration of several aspects:
• required containment level
• traffic and infrastructure characteristics
• site conditions and installation requirements

Nella progettazione di un'infrastruttura stradale, la scelta delle barriere stradali e dei sistemi di ritenuta rappresenta una componente essenziale per la definizione delle condizioni di sicurezza dell'opera.
La selezione del dispositivo più idoneo richiede la valutazione di diversi fattori:
• livello di contenimento richiesto
• caratteristiche del traffico e dell'infrastruttura
• condizioni al contorno e modalità di installazione
Per questo motivo, la disponibilità di documentazione tecnica completa e di informazioni prestazionali affidabili assume un ruolo determinante già nelle prime fasi progettuali.

At the ASPI worksite on the A16 Naples–Canosa motorway, the installation of fall protection parapets enabled the following works to be carried out safely.

The operations included:
• use of suitable equipment and lifting devices
• preliminary marking of installation levels
• geometric verification of existing supports
• mechanical fixing of the parapets
• inspection of the stability and effectiveness of collective protection systems

An essential temporary work phase to ensure safe operating conditions throughout the progress of the intervention.

𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗲𝘃𝗮 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 — 𝗟𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗶 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶 𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗱𝘂𝘁𝗮
Nel cantiere ASPI sulla A16 Napoli–Canosa, la posa dei parapetti anticaduta ha consentito l’esecuzione in sicurezza delle successive lavorazioni.

Le operazioni hanno previsto:
• utilizzo di idonee attrezzature e dispositivi di sollevamento
• tracciamento preliminare delle quote di installazione
• verifica geometrica dei supporti esistenti
• fissaggio meccanico dei parapetti
• controllo della stabilità e dell’efficienza dei sistemi di protezione collettiva

Una fase provvisionale essenziale per garantire condizioni operative sicure durante l’avanzamento dell’intervento.

In the field of road safety, Motorcyclist Protection Systems (MPS) are systems designed to reduce the severity of motorcyclist impacts against safety barriers.

These devices are integrated into road restraint systems through additional elements installed in the lower part of the barrier, with the aim of shielding posts and potentially hazardous structural components during an accident.

The adoption of dedicated systems for motorcyclists is becoming increasingly relevant in infrastructure design, especially on road sections characterized by higher accident rates or greater exposure to risk.

Because road safety requires solutions capable of addressing the needs of all road users.

At the ASPI worksite on the A16 Naples–Canosa motorway, the preparation of the operating areas included:

☑️ temporary occupation of the emergency lane and the slow lane
☑️ maintenance of vehicle traffic in safe conditions
☑️ delimitation with New Jersey barriers
☑️ installation of temporary signage in compliance with current regulations
☑️ adoption of the measures set out in the Safety and Coordination Plan and the Operational Safety Plan

An essential preliminary phase to set up the following works within an organised, delimited and safe operating environment.

𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗲𝘃𝗮 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 — 𝗟𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘇𝘇𝗮 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗲

Nel cantiere ASPI sulla A16 Napoli–Canosa, la preparazione delle aree operative ha previsto:

☑️ occupazione temporanea della corsia di emergenza e della corsia di marcia lenta
☑️ mantenimento della transitabilità veicolare in condizioni di sicurezza
☑️ delimitazione con barriere tipo New Jersey
☑️ installazione di segnaletica temporanea conforme alla normativa vigente
☑️ adozione delle misure previste da PSC e POS

Una fase preliminare essenziale per impostare le successive lavorazioni in un contesto organizzato, delimitato e sicuro.

Uno degli elementi che caratterizza una Smart Road è la capacità dell’infrastruttura di comunicare in modo continuo con i sistemi di gestione e, progressivamente, anche con i veicoli.
Per rendere possibile questo modello è necessario integrare reti di comunicazione affidabili, capaci di trasmettere dati in tempo reale lungo tutta l’infrastruttura.
Sensori, pannelli a messaggio variabile, dispositivi di rilevamento e piattaforme operative devono poter scambiare informazioni in modo rapido e coordinato.
Questo consente di supportare funzioni come la gestione dinamica del traffico, l’aggiornamento delle segnalazioni, il monitoraggio delle condizioni operative e la diffusione di informazioni agli utenti della strada.
La connettività assume quindi un ruolo infrastrutturale strategico, non accessorio.
Nelle Smart Roads, la comunicazione digitale rappresenta uno dei fattori che rendono possibile un’infrastruttura più adattiva, integrata e reattiva rispetto alle condizioni reali di utilizzo.

One of the defining features of a Smart Road is the infrastructure’s ability to communicate continuously with management systems and, increasingly, with vehicles as well.
To make this model possible, it is necessary to integrate reliable communication networks capable of transmitting data in real time throughout the entire infrastructure.
Sensors, variable message signs, detection devices, and operational platforms must be able to exchange information quickly and in a coordinated manner.
This enables functions such as dynamic traffic management, real-time signal updates, monitoring of operational conditions, and the dissemination of information to road users.
Connectivity thus plays a strategic, rather than an ancillary, role in infrastructure.
In Smart Roads, digital communication is one of the factors that enable an infrastructure that is more adaptive, integrated, and responsive to actual usage conditions.
