Chemical thinning timing can make the difference between a compact cluster and a high quality bunch.

In this field evaluation on ARRA Sugar Drop™, we take a closer look at the ideal stage for chemical thinning in conventional table grapes, how to identify the correct bloom phase, and why temperature conditions this season are making cluster management even more important.

Compact bunches can compromise berry size, airflow, postharvest performance, and increase the risk of fungal issues. Monitoring the pistil stage and following the correct protocol is essential for achieving balanced, marketable fruit.

Field decisions matter. Timing matters even more. 🍇

🍇 ARRA Passion Star™ in Puglia 🇮🇹

ARRA Passion Star™ in Puglia 🇮🇹
We are in Puglia with Leonardo Nanna, grower and long-time friend, following the development of ARRA Passion Star™ – ARRATHIRTEEN during the pre-bloom stage.
The variety is showing very high fertility, with highly elongated clusters and a consistent presence of three clusters per shoot. This characteristic allows growers to focus on premium quality production through careful selection, leaving up to a maximum of one cluster per shoot.
An interesting confirmation for this early red variety, which continues to stand out for its production balance and quality potential already from the early stages of the season. 🍇

🇮🇹📍 Bari Area, Italy
Marco Tempesta, agronomist at AVI, is in the field showing us the good fertility and precocity of ARRA Fire Kiss™ at its very first year of production.
Despite the recent rain and windy conditions, the vineyard is showing exceptional uniformity, with strong shoot fertility and well developed bunches throughout the canopy.
A super early red variety with excellent production potential, ARRA Fire Kiss™ is already confirming its place among the earliest red grapes of the season in Southern Italy.
