The Aglianico grape is cultivated and harvested by Cantina Castel dell'Angelo in the mountains of southern Italy's Campania region. The vineyards, owned by the Gambale family for generations, have remained unchanged for centuries. The full-bodied, tannic red w**e made from this grape takes its characteristics from the volcanic soils of the region. The grape, which was brought to Italy from Greece during the Roman ages, grows only in remote pockets of the country. Aglianico w**e is generally undiscovered by the population at large, but highly renowned by w**e connoisseurs.
