Tra la polvere nera, il sole di Sicilia e i muretti a secco, motozappiamo le nostre vigne di Petit Verdot. È qui, tra fatica, cura e paesaggio, che ogni vendemmia inizia a prendere forma.

Ci lasciamo alle spalle un maggio instabile, con sbalzi termici dai 4°C della notte al caldo quasi estivo del giorno. Uno stress non da poco per le piante nel pieno della loro crescita!
​Ora però siamo nel momento più cruciale dell'anno: la fioritura. In questi primi dieci giorni di giugno è arrivata la fioritura. È una fase delicatissima in cui la vite non ama gli eccessi del meteo (niente super caldo o temporali), ma preferirebbe una tiepida tramontana per aiutare i fiori a trasformarsi in acini.
​Nel frattempo noi non ci fermiamo e continuiamo a lavorare tra i filari con la spollonatura, pulendo il tronco della pianta dai germogli in eccesso.

We are leaving behind an unstable May, with sharp temperature swings from 4°C at night to almost summer-like heat during the day. This has been quite stressful for the vines, which are in the middle of their growth spurt!
But now we have reached the most crucial moment of the year: flowering has arrived during these first ten days of June. It is an extremely delicate phase where the vines do not like extreme weather (no intense heat or heavy storms); instead, they would prefer a warm north wind (tramontana) to help the flowers turn into grapes.
In the meantime, we are keeping busy in the vineyards with suckering (spollonatura), clearing the excess shoots from the trunks of the vines.

Il primo trimestre dell’anno si chiude lasciandoci un terreno fresco e ben idratato dalle piogge generose dei mesi scorsi. Nelle contrade più basse il germogliamento è imminente e segna il passaggio dalla quiete invernale alla primavera. In questi giorni l’attenzione è massima; osserviamo ogni filare per accompagnare lo sviluppo della pianta con precisione.

The first quarter of the year draws to a close, leaving us with soil that is cool and well-hydrated thanks to the generous rainfall of recent months.
In the lower contrade, where the earth retains heat more effectively, budbreak is imminent. The buds are beginning to swell, marking the transition from winter dormancy to spring. These are days of peak focus; we observe every row closely to guide the plants' development with precision.
