EABA - European Algae Biomass Association The general objective of the EABA is to promote mutual interchange and cooperation in the eld of algae biomass production and use.

The general objective of the European Algae Biomass Association (EABA) is to promote mutual interchange and cooperation in the field of biomass production and use, including biofuels uses and all other utilisations. It aims at creating, developing and maintaining solidarity and links between its Members and at defending their interests at European and international level. Its main target is to act as a catalyst for fostering synergies among scientists, industrialists and decision makers in order to promote the development of research, technology and industrial capacities in the field of Algae.

Last week we had a very interesting webinar on ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐š๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ ๐›๐ข๐จ๐š๐œ๐œ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐ข๐ง ๐š๐ฅ๐ ๐š๐ž: iodine, cadmium, arsenic, lead.
After learning more about regulation of these heavy metals in Europe and in different countries (France, Germany, Norway, USA), we highlighted the necessity of a ๐œ๐จ๐ซ๐ซ๐ž๐œ๐ญ ๐ฅ๐š๐›๐ž๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐  of the algae-based products concerning these contaminants. We noted that it was possible to ๐ซ๐ž๐๐ฎ๐œ๐ž ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ๐ฌ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฆ๐ž ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐š๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐›๐ข๐จ๐ฆ๐š๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐œ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ŸŒฑ.

โžก๏ธ At EABA we are already cooperating with several DGs (Directorate-General) from the European Commission on algae projects, regulation, and stantardization, and we ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ซ๐ฆ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ž๐ฑ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐จ ๐œ๐จ๐จ๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ž again in order to have a a proper information about regulatory limits of contaminants in different countries ๐Ÿ™‚.
