An important achievement for Wine Economics and Policy.

We are delighted to announce that Wine Economics and Policy has received a 2025 Journal Impact Factor of 2.6, as recently released by Clarivate’s Web of Science.

This represents a 62.5% increase compared to last year.

Considering that this is only the journal’s second year in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), the result is particularly encouraging. It reflects the growing visibility and influence of the research published in Wine Economics and Policy, as well as the sustained commitment to scientific quality that has guided the journal’s development.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all our Editorial Board members, authors, reviewers, collaborators and our publisher. Their expertise, dedication and invaluable contribution have made this achievement possible.

We are also grateful to our readers and to the international wine economics research community for their continued interest, trust and support.

We are pleased to share the exciting news that Wine Economics and Policy (WEP) has received its first official Impact Factor from Clarivate. This important milestone marks a significant recognition of the journal’s growing role in disseminating high-quality research in the fields of wine economics, policy, and related disciplines.

This achievement reflects the increasing visibility and academic relevance of the journal, and we are grateful to the authors, reviewers, and readers who have contributed to its development over the years.

The editors of Wine Economics and Policy invite submissions for a special issue dedicated to the economics of the spirits market. The spirits sector holds significant economic importance, with its products being both produced and consumed worldwide. This industry encompasses a diverse array of products, including Scotch whiskies, French cognacs, Mexican tequilas, Chinese baijiu, and local craft spirits. In recent years, the global spirits industry has experienced a remarkable transformation, spurred by shifting consumer preferences, technological advancements, and evolving regulatory landscapes. This transformation is occurring within a broader context marked by geopolitical tensions, rising production costs, challenges in accessing raw materials, inflation, protectionism, and climate change—all of which necessitate a reexamination of the sector’s strategic fundamentals. This special issue seeks to capture the latest research on these dynamic markets and provide a comprehensive understanding of the economic forces shaping the spirits industry.
