Chinese New Year is coming soon! It is traditional to pray for good luck on the first day of the new year in the culture of Asia. Today we would like to introduce one of the most famous temples in Taiwan: Dalongdong Baoan Temple #保安宮
　
👉Also known as the Taipei Baoan Temple (臺北保安宮), Dalongdong Baoan Temple is one of the Three Grand Temples of Taipei. A symbol of Taiwanese folk religion temple in the Datong District of Taipei, Taiwan, the present temple was originally built by clan members in Tong'an, Xiamen, Fujian, who immigrated to Taipei in the early 19th century and gave the temple the name Po-an (保安; Pó-an) in order to "protect those of Tong'an" (保佑同安). The Chinese god of medicine, Baosheng Dadi (“Life Protection Emperor”) Wu Ben is worshipped here as an important figure of the folk religion.
　
The temple construction commenced in 1804 and replaced a previously existing wooden shrine from 1742 in Toaliongtong, an old village in historical Taipei (modern-day Dalongdong). During the Japanese period (1895-1945), the temple underwent numerous improvements and extensions, which resulted in the present temple grounds. In 1985, the Taiwan government conferred on the temple the status of level two historic monument and after years of neglect and abuse, the temple was finally the focus of repairs and renovations in 1995. In 2003, the temple was inducted into the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation.
　
You can easily access the Baoan Temple from the Yuanshan station (Red Line) of Taipei Metro (MRT).

Time flies and 2019 is coming!!
Xiangshan, where will be crowded around New Year's Eve because of splendid Taipei 101 fireworks, is the best spot to see spectacular Taipei night view. Below is the more detailed introduction of Taipei 101. Special thanks to our partner Like It Formosa, the best walking tour program in Taipei.
　
👉The landmark supertall skyscraper of Taiwan, Taipei 101 was the world's tallest in 2004 (509.2 m) and remained such until the completion of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai in 2010. In 2011, the building was awarded the LEED platinum certification and became the tallest and largest green building in the world.
　
Construction of Taipei 101 started in 1999 and finished in 2004. The tower has since then served as an icon of modern Taiwan. Taipei 101 is home to hundreds of stores, restaurants, and clubs with its adjoined multi-level shopping mall. Since its opening on Dec 31, 2004, New Year's Eve fireworks launched from Taipei 101 hit a headlines in international broadcasts, a favorite sight of many travel brochure and international media.
　
The main tower of Taipei 101 features a series of eight segments of eight floors each. In Chinese-speaking cultures the number Eight is associated with abundance, prosperity and good fortune. In addition, the repeated segments recall the rhythms of an Asian pagoda (a tower linking earth and sky, also evoked in the Petronas Towers), a stalk of bamboo (an icon of learning and growth), and a stack of ancient Chinese ingots or money boxes (a symbol of abundance). Popular humor sometimes likens the building's shape to a stack of take-out boxes as used in Western-style Chinese food.

Din Tai Fung(鼎泰豐) is the most famous and must-try cuisine in Taiwan. You can find the most exquisite xiaolongbao(steamed dumpling, 小籠包) here.

If you are planning to come to Taiwan, you definitely should try this restaurant!!☺️☺️

If you have no chance to come recently, let’s see a clip showing how steamed dumplings are made!! After watching the clip, maybe you will have desire to get the flight ticket to Taiwan immediately.
