Terreno Terreno - Chianti Classico. Organic winery just outside Greve in Chianti. Terreno is also a place to enjoy, where we are implementing the art of hospitality.

Terreno is situated in the heart of Chianti Classico, close to the village of Greve in Chianti, where vine has been cultivated since Roman times. We, the Ruhne family, started making wine here in 1988, joining something of the dynamism and pragmatism of Swedish culture with a deep respect for the centuries-old traditions of Chianti Classico. Terreno is a large estate, fully organic since 2014, co

vering a total area of 150 hectares, 20 of which are dedicated to vineyards and 10 to olive groves, with the remaining part consisting mainly of woodland. Vineyards are planted with local grape varietals, including Sangiovese – which plays the leading role – as well as Canaiolo and Colorino among the reds, Trebbiano and Malvasia among the whites. A small portion of international vines completes the picture, for an annual production of around 100,000 bottles. Terreno is a modern Chianti Classico estate run by Sofia Ruhne, second generation of our family. After a long apprenticeship in the company, Sofia now runs the estate, supported by a staff of technicians and collaborators of recognized talent, directed by Federico Staderini and coordinated by Giacomo Fioravanti. Our restaurant is surrounded by the vineyards and it remains open from April to October, over six months per year. We serve here a seasonal menu, composed with fresh produce from local farms and by picking vegetables from our organic garden. We are mostly inspired by fresh and genuine flavors of Tuscan cuisine, without neglecting some references to our Swedish culinary culture. Terreno is a work in progress. Houses and buildings around the estate are undergoing a substantial restoration program, to meet the standards of modern wine tourism. Enjoy a visit to our vineyards; reserve a wine tasting in our winery; buy some wines and olive oil in our shop; book a table for a tasty meal in our restaurant or spend a few days in our holiday apartments. Our idea of hospitality is enjoyed in many different ways, as we would love to preserve the genuine spirit of Chianti countryside, without renouncing the pleasure of a dip in the pool, neither the comforts of a regenerating break. This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming colleagues and industry professionals to a lunch and vertical tasting of our Terreno Chianti Classico Gran Selezione ASofia DOCG.⁠

More than a tasting, we shared the story behind ASofia and Sofia's journey as a winemaker since 2010. Through eleven vintages, we explored how both the wine and the vision behind it have evolved over time, shaped by experience, place and each unique growing season.⁠

The lunch took place at .eriksson, where Chef Jimmi Eriksson, who represented Sweden in the Bocuse d'Or World Final in Lyon in 2023 and, together with his team, achieved an impressive fourth-place finish, personally prepared a menu inspired by three chapters of the tasting, thoughtfully complementing the wines.⁠

Our rosé is back – now in a new look. 🌸⁠

This year’s release comes with a refreshed design, while the wine remains the same: fresh, vibrant and made to be enjoyed with food and good company.⁠

Expect aromas of raspberries, lingonberries, cherries and gooseberries. A crisp and lively rosé with a gentle roundness and a subtle salinity that makes it especially food-friendly. Perfect alongside a generous summer salad or spaghetti ai frutti di mare with garlic and parsley.⁠

The grapes are handpicked at just the right moment to preserve freshness and natural acidity. After a short skin contact, the wine gets its delicate pale pink colour, and fermentation begins with natural yeasts in stainless steel tanks.⁠

You can of course enjoy Terreno Rosato at the estate, where it’s being served throughout the season. It is also once again available in Sweden through Systembolaget (no. 5617201).⁠

Il rosato è tornato, con un nuovo aspetto. 🌸⁠

Il vino rimane lo stesso: fresco, dinamico, pensato per la tavola e per la condivisione.⁠

Profumi di lampone, mirtillo rosso, ciliegia e uva spina. Al palato è vivo e scorrevole, con una leggera rotondità e una sottile sapidità che lo rende particolarmente versatile negli abbinamenti. Si esprime al meglio con piatti semplici e stagionali, come un’insalata estiva o spaghetti ai frutti di mare, aglio e prezzemolo.⁠

Le uve sono raccolte a mano nel momento giusto, per preservare freschezza e acidità naturale. Dopo un breve contatto con le bucce, il vino acquista il suo colore rosa tenue; la fermentazione avviene con lieviti indigeni in acciaio.⁠

Terreno Week at Portal, Stockholm 🍷⁠

On March 18, our winemaker Sofia Ruhne will visit Restaurant Portal in Stockholm – marking the start of a Terreno Week, where our wines will be in focus until March 28.⁠

Portal is run by chef Klas Lindberg, winner of Swedish Chef of the Year 2012, and later responsible for the prestigious Nobel Banquet in Stockholm. Known for its thoughtful seasonal cuisine and ambitious wine list, Portal has also been named Business Restaurant of the Year by Dagens Industri several times. We are therefore especially happy that Portal will highlight Terreno for an entire week.⁠

During the evening, several Terreno wines will be served by the glass, alongside Tuscan-inspired dishes. Our wines will of course also be available by the bottle, and Sofia will be there to share stories from the vineyard.⁠

Our organic Terreno Olio Extra Vergine di Oliva 2025 has arrived! 🫒⁠

The varieties we use are the traditional ones from Tuscany, Frantoio, Leccino and Moraiolo, giving an extra virgin olive oil with aromas of fresh-cut grass, gentle spice and a fresh, balanced finish. The 2025 olive season was defined by a naturally smaller harvest, early ripening after a hot summer and frequent rainfall in early autumn, resulting in a soft and approachable oil with subtle tannins, balanced by a bright freshness that reflects the growing year.

The novello is best enjoyed fresh, preferably in its simplest form with grilled bread and a piece of aged cheese! ⁠

A warm thank you to Star Wine List for hosting an inspiring first edition of Inspiration Day in Stockholm.⁠

We were pleased to take part as one of the wine exhibitors, pouring our Chianti Classico wines alongside dedicated producers and importers — and to be part of a day filled with knowledge and inspiring conversations, including the privilege of listening to the iconic Jancis Robinson

It was a true pleasure to meet so many Swedish wine professionals, members of the press and to share a taste of Terreno and Chianti Classico in Stockholm.
