To conclude our series introducing some of the people behind our Puntay wines 🍷🌱, we would like to present Markus Riffesser from Kaltern.
The 59-year-old grew up in a winegrowing family and today cultivates 1.2 hectares of vineyards across different sites around Kaltern.
For him, organic viticulture is about treating nature responsibly and nurturing vibrant vineyards where biodiversity can thrive.
“𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 – 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗼 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴.”
For Markus, experience, careful observation and adaptability are more important today than ever before. At the same time, promoting biodiversity is especially close to his heart.
Because only by preserving nature’s balance can we safeguard our unique wine-growing landscape for future generations.

Today, in our series introducing some of the people behind our Puntay wines 🍷🌱, we would like to present Hannes and Julia Stampfer from Girlan.
Father and daughter cultivate around two hectares of vineyards together. Since 2008, they have been farming according to organic and biodynamic principles, with great passion and deep respect for nature. Alongside farming, Hannes also works as a mountain guide, while Julia pursues her passion for beekeeping through her small apiary.
“𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘆𝗮𝗿𝗱.”
For both of them, organic viticulture is above all about attentiveness and staying close to nature. Carefully observing the vines and responding thoughtfully to their needs is part of their everyday work.
As Julia says: “We need to observe more closely and work even more consciously.”

The 🍷 Vinibuoni d'Italia wine guide is unique in Italy: it is dedicated exclusively to wines made from native grape varieties – varieties that have been deeply rooted in their regions of origin for centuries. Its highest distinction is the 👑, awarded only to the very best wines.
We are therefore delighted that our Alto Adige DOC 2025 has received this highest honour. 🥂

In our series introducing some of the people behind our Puntay wines 🍷🌱, today we would like to introduce Peterlin from Caldaro.
Together with his father, he cultivates around seven hectares of vineyards 🍇. Long before his vineyards received official organic certification, he had already embraced sustainable practices and started exploring new approaches.
Instead of maintaining a uniform ground cover, he sowed flowering mixes 🪻, bringing numerous insects 🐝🦋 and new life back into the vineyards.
“𝗔 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀-𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀.”
For Reinhard, biodiversity is not just a buzzword – it is part of his everyday work. A balanced interaction between plants, insects and soil organisms forms the foundation for healthy vines and authentic wines.
At the same time, he sees himself as an ambassador for a unique wine-growing landscape that deserves to be preserved for future generations.

In our series introducing some of the people behind our Puntay wines 🍷🌱, today we would like to present Roland Dissertori from Kaltern.
Together with his family, he cultivates around 5.5 hectares of vineyards in Kaltern and Tramin. For more than twenty years, he has been committed to organic viticulture and was among the small group of winegrowers in Kaltern who embraced this path at an early stage.
Along the way, he learned from organic pioneers such as Markus Morandell and further deepened his knowledge through training in biodynamic viticulture.
“𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗲, 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵.”
For Roland, organic farming means looking at the vineyard and its natural surroundings as one interconnected whole. Biodiversity in the soil and among the vines, as well as the constant interaction with the plant, are essential parts of his daily work.
“It is almost like a continuous dialogue with the vine.”

With the 2022 vintage, we converted five wines 🍷 from our line to organic farming 🌱.
But who are the people whose passion and deep respect for nature lay the foundation for our Puntay wines?
Over the coming weeks ⏩️, we would like to introduce some of our organic winegrowers.
The first in our series is Markus Morandell from Kaltern. Born in 1956, he is a passionate winegrower and one of the pioneers of organic viticulture in our region.
Already in the 1970s, he developed a keen interest in biodynamic farming and, driven by strong conviction, converted to organic viticulture in 1992. Today, he cultivates 1.2 hectares of vineyards in Kaltern, growing Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Merlot – all farmed organically.
“𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗲, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱.”
For Markus, organic farming is above all about working in harmony with nature and preserving resources for future generations. Living soils, healthy vines and the responsible use of natural resources are, for him, the foundations of sustainable viticulture. As he likes to say: “We are not working only for ourselves, but also for the generations to come.”

Our Classic wines show character – and are making an impression internationally 🤩

Wine Enthusiast has reviewed several wines, confirming the clear stylistic identity of our range. The 2024 and 2024 stand out in particular, both awarded 93 points 🥂.

The tasting notes underline these ratings perfectly:
For the Chardonnay: “Alto Adige’s mountain waters leave their mark.” – highlighting its alpine origin, reflected in freshness and clarity.
For the Gewürztraminer: “Plot twist: Gewürztraminer that doesn’t need to shout.” – an expressive yet refined wine that convinces through balance rather than intensity.
