Gli archeologi tornano in Val Grande per continuare gli scavi nel sito della villa di Mutteron dei Frati! 🏛️🔎🌿

Dopo qualche mese di silenzio, finalmente è ufficiale: le Università di Regensburg e Padova, grazie al finanziamento della Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) e al sostegno della proprietà e della gestione, continueranno le ricerche per altri tre anni! 🇩🇪🇮🇹📚

The archaeologists are returning to Val Grande to continue excavations at the site of the Mutteron dei Frati villa! 🏛️🔎🌿

After a few months of silence, it is finally official: the Universities of Regensburg and Padua, thanks to funding from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and with the support of the owners and management, will continue their research for another three years! 🇩🇪🇮🇹📚

Nach einigen Monaten der Stille ist es endlich offiziell: Die Universitäten Regensburg und Padua werden ihre Forschungen dank der Förderung durch die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) und mit Unterstützung der Eigentümer und der Leitung für weitere drei Jahre fortsetzen! 🇩🇪🇮🇹📚

Lasciare un sottile strato di foglie cadute in alcune zone del giardino può offrire diversi benefici al terreno e alla piccola fauna.

Con il tempo, le foglie si decompongono e restituiscono materia organica al suolo. Questo processo contribuisce alla formazione dell’humus e sostiene l’attività di funghi, microrganismi e piccoli organismi decompositori.

Lo strato di foglie crea anche un ambiente più riparato e umido, utile per numerosi invertebrati. Alcuni insetti e altri piccoli animali possono sfruttarlo come rifugio, soprattutto durante i mesi più freddi.

Non è necessario lasciare foglie ovunque. Sentieri, prati e superfici che devono rimanere libere possono essere puliti, mentre una parte delle foglie può essere raccolta sotto siepi, arbusti e alberi.

Una gestione meno rigida delle foglie autunnali permette quindi di mantenere il giardino ordinato senza eliminare completamente una risorsa naturale utile al suolo e alla biodiversità.

David J. C. Austin

It is with great sadness that we announce that David J. C. Austin has died at his Shropshire home, surrounded by his family. He had been diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), a rare and incurable neurological condition.

David joined the family business in Albrighton, Shropshire, in 1990, as his father, the late David C. H. Austin, was gaining wider recognition for his work in breeding English Roses. He went on to lead the business for more than three decades, driving its growth and transformation from a specialist nursery into a globally recognised name among rose lovers. Throughout his leadership, the creation of beautiful, fragrant roses was always central to the business he built.

David’s children, Richard, James and Olivia, said:

“First and foremost, Dad was a gardener. That was at the heart of who he was. He carried our grandfather’s vision with humility and an unwavering sense of responsibility, always putting the roses, the family business and its people before himself. He was kind and modest, with a playful spirit, a sense of adventure and a real enjoyment of life. He faced his illness with the same courage and dignity that he brought to life. Above all, he was our Dad, and words cannot express how much we will miss him. We couldn’t be more proud of him.”

The Austin family would like to thank everyone who cared for David and supported them during his illness.

David Austin Roses continues under its experienced leadership team, working closely with the next generation of the Austin family, and we are as committed as ever to serving our partners and rose lovers around the world.

Per tutti quelli a cui piacciono i cedri capitozzati, massacrati, a panettone. Questo é un cedro intonso, nella sua forma naturale. Se proprio dovessi toccarlo toglierei il secco. STOP. Se fosse troppo vicino a una casa il problema scaturirebbe dall'ignoranza di chi ha piantato un futuro gigante in poco spazio. Se amate davvero gli alberi leggete, non dico studiate, ma almeno leggete un minimo di documentazione scientifica sull'arboricoltura. In Italia ci sono diverse associazioni professionali specializzate che possono darvi informazioni preziose.
