The Righetti vineyards and wine cellars are and have been family owned since their foundation. Strategically located in Valgatara, in the outskirts of Marano, the heart of the Valpolicella wine producing region, the original cellar was built in 1909 by Angelo Righetti. Subsequently enlarged by his son Andrea and further expanded by the current generations; Luigi (son of Andrea) and his sons Gianma
ria and Giuseppe. The original family home, which has recently been refurbished, is also where the first wine cellar was located, and also hosts, in its lofts, the drying areas for the grapes, destined for the production of Amarone and Recioto. The grapes utilised are Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara. Today the structure consists, not only of the above ground storage areas, pressing equipment, silos, bottling plant. etc, equipped with the latest machinery and technological know how, but also of three cellars below ground, containing traditional casks and barrels of Slovanian oak and original French barriques. The latest and largest wine cellar was built in 1997 and is 6 meters below ground level, where the temperature is of 12-15°C. This houses the Amarone Classico in large oak casks, and the Amarone Classico Capitel de Roari, partly in barrels and partly in Oak barriques. This cellar is also home to Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso , which is aged in oak barrels. The expertise of great grand-father (Angelo) and grand-father (Andrea), had already received great recognition, for the great care taken of their vineyards and wine refinement techniques, which resulted in a product of excellence, that the current generation endeavours to maintain and if possible improve. All things considered, it is above all the dedication, love for wine making, and the tradition and expertise of four generations of Veronese winemakers, that make each bottle of Righetti wine, unique.
