Le sue origini risalgono al 1800 circa, quando da una piccola proprietà di famiglia di pochi ettari, condotti dalla nonna Cardeddra (soprannome dato alla famiglia Maltese che significa "erba spontanea"che la signora amava ripulire tra i filari), la quale con il senso del dovere e del sacrificio, superando le difficoltà dell'epoca e pregiudizi essendo donna, riuscì a portare avanti la piccola azienda che verrà ceduta negli anni ai suoi 14 figli. Oggi con il proseguo delle generazioni è una solida realtà agricola che mantiene una conduzione familiare, un' oculata idea qualitativa che cerca di cedere ad ogni produzione.
