flydubai has taken a major step in reshaping its future fleet with a provisional order for up to 150 Airbus A321neos, marking the first Airbus deal in the airline’s history. Announced on the second day of the Dubai Airshow, the agreement signals a shift from flydubai’s long reliance on an all-Boeing narrowbody operation.

Signed by Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum and Airbus Commercial CEO Christian Scherer, the MoU is designed to sit alongside the carrier’s existing Boeing pipeline, which includes additional 737 MAX aircraft and 30 787-9s arriving from 2026.

For flydubai, the A321neo brings added range and higher-capacity options that fit Dubai’s broader aviation strategy and the long-term development of Dubai World Central, set to become the world’s largest airport.

Deliveries are planned from 2031, giving Airbus a noteworthy airshow win and adding further pressure to its A321neo production ramp as demand continues to surge.
