☆ FUN FACT ☆
This week’s fact is devoted to the third industry included in the Bocconi Students Business Game challenges, FASHION!!! You may know that Milan is recognized internationally as one of the world's most important fashion capitals, along with Paris, New York and London. But did you also know that the city’s history with history within the fields of fashion, textiles and design dates back to earlier than the late 19th century, when Milan was a major production center? Today, Milan is especially renowned for its role within the prêt-à-porter category of fashion. One of the city’s noblest areas is the "fashion quadrilateral" comprising four streets: Via Monte Napoleone, Via Manzoni, Via della Spiga and Corso Venezia. Have a look yourself if you have the chance at our event in February!

☆ MEET THE BSBG ORGANIZING TEAM ☆
Today, we’d like to introduce you to our Head of Logistics, Simon Viezens.
“I was born and raised in Hamburg that is often considered Germany's gate to the world because of its large port. My affection to my home city has deeply shaped my character, as I have a very outgoing personality and I’m eager to constantly broaden my horizon and explore new things in any aspect of life. I feel that organizing the Business Game is a great opportunity in this regard, and heading the logistics and the budgeting allows me to get involved not only with organizational elements but also with great people who share a similar mindset.”

☆ FUN FACT FRIDAY☆
This week’s fact is devoted to the second industry included in the challenges, the CONSUMER GOODS one!
The sector of CPGs, or Consumer Packaged Goods, being one of the biggest in the world, is characterized by purchases made by individuals rather than industries and manufacturers, so it’s the one most of us are more familiar with!
However, did you know that it depends quite heavily on reputations, which can be lost overnight? An interesting example is Apple. Although its it today considered as one of the world’s most reputable brands, Apple faced a big negative public reaction, when it decided to drop rival Google Inc.’s Maps system, replacing it with its own. After a significant wave of negative press, it managed to restore its image, and this happened only when the CEO Tim Cook personally wrote a public letter, apologizing for the situation created, even encouraging users to rely on Google Maps – a suggestion which would have seemed unimaginable a few months before!

Stay tuned for more interesting stories coming up!

☆ MEET THE BSBG ORGANIZING TEAM ☆
Today, we’d like to introduce you to another member of the BSBG organizing team, our Head of Promotion, Lisa Hartmann:
“I am originally from Germany and a second year M.Sc. student in Accounting, Financial Management and Control. Leading the Promotion Team is a great opportunity for me to actually deal with more creative tasks compared to my everyday course schedule. It’s also a pleasure to work in such an international team with members from all over the world. I hope, this will also give me some inspiration for new destinations to travel to, after graduating from Bocconi University :)"

☆ FUN FACT FRIDAY☆
As the Bocconi Students Business Game will consist of 4 case challenges in different industries, we would like to present interesting facts about the very first one CONSULTING!
The business of consulting is large. In 2016, the global consulting market was worth more than 250 billion U.S. dollars. The management consultant sector, which generally advises organizations on how to improve their performance, had an expected market size of over 130 billion U.S. dollars in the same year. Last year, over 200,000 consultants sold over $100 billion of advice. Today, technology planning, strategic services and enterprise consulting represent 35 percent, 20 percent and 15 percent roughly of the worldwide consulting spending.

There was a glass of water on the table...
One man says, "It's half full". He is an optimist.
Second man says, "It's half empty". He is a pessimist.
Third man says, "It's twice too big". He is a management consultant.

☆ MEET THE BSBG ORGANIZING TEAM ☆
Today, we’d like to introduce you to our Head of Relations: Jörg Michaelis. Being a German national, Joerg is very organized and diligent which has proven to be essential for his M. Sc. in International Management at Bocconi but also for his work as the newly elected president of the Bocconi Students Consulting Club. He has extensive work experience in various fields and during his gap year he took trips to Southeast Asia and Africa including a climb of Kilimanjaro! Hopefully, he will also lead our event to new heights ☺

☆ FUN FACT ☆
As we will host the Bocconi Students Business Game at Università Bocconi in February, we decided to make this week’s educating but entertaining piece of information about the university itself. Did you know that Bocconi was founded in 1902 by Ferdinando Bocconi and was named after his son, Luigi Bocconi? Since then it has grown immensely, of course, and was able to host more than 14,000 students in 2016 in five different schools: The Undergraduate School, Graduate School, Law School, PhD School, and SDA Bocconi School of Management. It is an impressive campus with many fond traditions and memories. Every generation of students adds on that, just as we would like to do with the Business Game! Stay tuned for more information coming soon!

☆ MEET THE BSBG ORGANIZING TEAM ☆
Today we would like to introduce you to another member of our organizing team, our Bocconi Students Business Game Vice President Francesca Aru.
"I was born in the idyllic island called Sardinia, but I have always felt that the society I was called to live in was bigger. I know that "the only way to do great work, is to love what you do". Being connected with other people, diversity, team work and adaptation represent the fundamental reasons why I decided to join the Bocconi Students Business Game organizing team. And since then, I have never regretted this choice."

☆ FUN FACT FRIDAY ☆
Did you know that Milan’s Cathedral is the fifth largest Christian church in the world?
Covering a surface of 109,641 square feet and an entire city block, you would be even more impressed to know that it is also the oldest one on that list! In the end, it took over 6 centuries, thousands of sculptors and workers, and a new canal system – famously known today as the Navigli area – for it to take its current form!
But nothing is as convincing unless you see it with your own eyes! Join the Bocconi Students Business Game in Milan, and don’t miss out on a weekend full of challenges and competition, and a breathtaking view of the snow-capped Alpes from Duomo’s terrace!
