Baselworld - The Watch and Jewellery Show will be half the size of its 2017 edition, 3 halls will be closed and the number of jewellery exhibitors dropped dramatically. Big changes ahead !

Business news: Baselworld 2018 is set to have only 600 to 700 exhibitors, which represents a decrease of around half of the last known exhibitor number.

Baselworld closed its doors yesterday celebrating its 100 edition with a loss in both business, exhibitors and buyers. Mixed comments were heard, business has been great or really bad, several top Brands will not be in Basel next year and will be showcasing in Geneva instead. Baselworld officials announced the 2018 edition will last 6 days only and price will be "adjusted" accordingly. It seems the benchmark of the luxury is shifting from the river to the lake !

UBM straightens his presence in Asia and enters in the Middle East region with the acquisition of Allworld Exhibitons bringing under UBM Asia Ltd the most prestigious jewellery fairs of the Middle East, Official Jewellery Arabia and Jewellery Arabia Kuwait !

UBM plc ("UBM", or the "Company") announces today that it has agreed to acquire Allworld Exhibitions ("Allworld", or the “Business”) for a cash consideration which values the Business at US$485 million on a debt and cash free basis (the "Acquisition").

The Hong Kong jewellery & gem fair ended with good business despite the overall slowdown. China showed again it's power appetite for jewellery despite all the rumors about its slowdown. It seems that business is sitting at the extreme sides of Europe, either Americas or Asia!
