La storia insegna ; un grande vino può essere comparato ad un ‘opera d’arte e come tale rifugge alle regole economiche normali in quanto il suo valore esce dai canoni elementari della domanda e dell’offerta . Un grande vino non è mai “naturale” poiché rappresenta gli sforzi umani messi in atto per realizzare la vigna con i giusti vitigni (adatti al terreno e al clima) e in prosieguo le esperienze

di cantina attraverso tecniche adatte in rispetto alle caratteristiche insite nell’uva . L’affermazione di un prodotto vino passa quindi attraverso diverse azioni per le quali sono anche da prendere in considerazione tempi relativamente lunghi che comportano sforzi, investimenti, attesa e pazienza . La mia vita , la mia storia , sono legate a Monforte alla sua gente,ai suoi vigneti , ai suoi vini ; nel 1982 comincio un cammino che sarà ricco di grandissime soddisfazioni in compagnia di Claudio , mio cugino e di Guido Fantino . All’alba del nuovo millennio interrompo lo splendido sodalizio per cercare nuove motivazioni. Buon sangue non mente. Difficile tenermi fuori dalla mischia , troppo forte è la passione e qui di nuovo a combattere questa volta in prima persona ma non privo dell’appoggio sicuro di mia moglie Anna e dei miei figli, Lorenza e Stefano . History shows us that great wines are like works of art. Normal economics do not apply, and their value is not determined by the basic concepts of supply and demand. A great wine can never be a “natural” product. The vineyard that produces it is the result of man’s endeavour; the vines for example, are selected to suit the local soil and climate. Even in the wine cellar, different wine-making techniques are employed depending on the particular characteristics of the grapes. Making a great wine also requires a great deal of financial investment , passion and pride. A wine goes through many different stages before it can be considered a successful finished product. The process takes a relatively long time and requires effort, investment and patience. My life and my roots are here in Monforte, and I am linked to its people, its vineyards and its wines. Together with my cousin Claudio and Guido Fantino, in 1982 I started down a path that brought be great satisfaction. At the dawning of the new millennium I left this partnership in search of new inspiration. Good blood can’t lie however! It was too hard to stay out of the mix and my passion eventually won through. So I’m back once again, this time on my own, but not without support from my wife Anna and my children Stefano and Lorenza.
