Our Story

Piombaia is a biodynamic family vineyard. Francesco Cantini, the current winemaker after four generations into the wine production, implemented biodynamics in the production of our wines: Brunello di Montalcino, Roso di Montalcino, Dono, Gatto Nero and Cidice.

The whole philosophy of our vineyard production is based on biodynamics where the use of fertilizers, pesticides and industrial herbicides is avoided. Biodynamic agriculture differs from other types of ecological agriculture in the use of vegetable and mineral preparations as additives in the soil, as well we follow the calendar based on the movement of the stars and the lunar cycles, it’s basically returning to the ancient knowledge of how wine was made at the beginning of time.

Piombaia offers guided tours through the vineyard to learn more about our particular winemaking and tastings accompanied by típica food, which is the best way to taste wine.

The wine tasting lunch is a complete 4-course meal accompanied by 3 or 4 wines including the Brunello di Montalcino, all dishes are made with the fresh products of our own agriculture and other local producers. Reservation is required.
