The graniglia technique in Murano glassmaking involves applying small fragments of colored glass, known as graniglia, onto the surface of the molten glass.
The glassmaker gathers the hot glass from the furnace and rolls it over a bed of graniglia, which instantly fuses with the glass body. During the blowing process, the colored specks spread irregularly, creating a lively and dynamic effect that makes each piece truly one of a kind.
This process allows for surfaces rich in chromatic contrasts and variations, ensuring the uniqueness of every object.

The terms “rigadin” refers to a vertical ribbed pattern obtained by blowing molten glass into a relief mold. During the blowing process, the piece is then rotated so that the ribs are “twisted”, creating a helical effect that enhance the play of light and movement on the surface. The result is a glass with a vibrant and dynamic character, capable of capturing reflections and continuously transforming according to the light that passes trough it.
