From concept to the sea: the teamwork behind a yacht

On May 20, from 11:00 to 12:00, Nadia Cutolo — Lead Project Engineer in the Hydro Tec outfitting department — will be among the speakers at the Blue Design Summit, together with professionals who contribute to shaping the future of yachting.

A discussion dedicated to the journey that transforms an idea into a yacht, all the way to the experience of those who live it. The session will explore the evolution of design, the new needs of yacht owners, sustainability, materials, and the increasingly strong connection between yachting, hospitality, and lifestyle.
It will also be an opportunity to highlight the human side of our work: collaboration, insight, and responsibility behind every project.

An event designed for yacht owners, captains, industry professionals, students, and young people interested in the future of yachting.

Haze² represents a significant evolution within the Darwin Class, the series of explorer yachts developed by Hydro Tec together with , now reaching its sixteenth unit with Haze².

The project was conceived with the aim of reinterpreting the original concept of the range while preserving its core values — strength, safety, and efficiency — and at the same time introducing a more contemporary design language.

The exterior design, created by Hydro Tec, features sharper lines and a completely redesigned superstructure, with rebalanced proportions that give the profile greater dynamism and a lighter visual perception. The extensive use of glass enhances the continuity between interior and exterior spaces, while the integrated functional solutions help preserve the project’s clean formal identity.

From an engineering perspective, also developed by Hydro Tec, Haze² adopts a steel and aluminium configuration designed to optimize stability and onboard comfort. The hydrodynamic and technical solutions were developed through an integrated approach focused on reliability, efficiency, and operational performance, fully aligned with the Darwin Class philosophy.

The interiors, designed by , complete the project with a contemporary material language and a balanced palette, maintaining continuity with the overall design vision.

Haze² therefore confirms both the evolutionary path of the Darwin Class and Hydro Tec’s approach to developing explorer yachts designed for long-range cruising.

Hydro Tec is proud to announce that , the latest Darwin yacht built by Cantiere delle Marche with exterior design and engineering developed by Hydro Tec, is among the winners of the in the category Displacement Motor Yachts – 499GT and below, 30m to 39.9m.

The Darwin Class, a pioneering line in the explorer yacht segment founded over fifteen years ago, is today one of the most established and recognized platforms in the industry. With Haze², this series reaches its sixteenth unit, confirming a continuous evolutionary path driven by research, innovation, and design consistency.

The project interprets the original DNA of the Darwin Class in a contemporary key, with particular attention to the evolution of the exterior language: sharper and more dynamic lines, a redesigned superstructure, and a strong integration between volumes and glass surfaces that enhances the relationship between yacht and environment. Advanced engineering solutions also help ensure the efficiency, autonomy, and reliability typical of the series.

This recognition confirms the value of a coherent and continuous design journey that has seen Hydro Tec play a leading role for years in the development of the Darwin Class and its evolution in the explorer segment.
The interiors, designed by Lawson Robb, complete the project with a contemporary and material-driven language, based on open-pore woods, bronze, handcrafted details, and a neutral palette enriched with chromatic accents and scenic lighting, contributing to an atmosphere of refined comfort and distinctive identity on board.
