Speaking of summer in Italy, what’s the best destination and why? 🇮🇹

- Puglia for its gorgeous beaches and limestone houses
- Campania thanks to its famous islands, Capri and Ischia
- Tuscany where you can enjoy wine tasting one day and Versilia coast the next day
- The Dolomites for those who want to escape the heat and get some fresh mountain air

In case your ISEE is more than €20K, you might be able to buy a discounted apartment in Italy! 🇮🇹

This benefit is valid for Italians AND citizens of EU AND expats in Italy as long as they have residency permit based on work specifically. And in general it’s a must to be employed in order to be considered.

How much does it cost to buy an apartment in Italy? 🇮🇹

Nowadays we are looking at €200K +- as a decent budget. But let’s talk about different cities. You can have around 45sqm in Milan for that price (or less than 40sqm for a new build), and this is the most expensive city. The situation gets better in Rome: 60sqm and 50sqm for a new build. Check out Bologna and Florence though: around 70sqm and a bit more than 50sqm for a new build (average numbers). We think Turin is a great option: a smaller northern city where you can get 110sqm in a older building or 80sqm if you prefer a central location with modern architecture. Genoa is even more affordable, and a great option for the sea lovers: 160sqm - 110sqm respectively.

Thanks to findings provided by we can expect 6% increase in prices for renting out beach umbrellas and chairs, etc. (compared to 2025). So it is becoming more challenging to plan out a vacation for an Italian family.

Sicily is showing the biggest increase in prices (16%). Now there are no changes in Alassio for example, yet it is the most expensive spot. It will cost you around €368/week to rent out - umbrella and 2 loungers. How about the cheapest rent? Go to Lignano in Udine: €164/week for the same set as above.

Guess how much an Italian family spends on grocery shopping each month? 🛒

If we are talking about a young couple with no kids, they spend around €300/month. Things definitely change when there are children in the picture, but it is always ~€150 per person per month.
Technically it is not that much, so how is it possible? Italians do eat pasta, a lot. Typically they have pasta with various sauces daily for lunch. Another factor is that they cook from scratch quite often, and it is always more cost effective compared to buying prepped meals.
At least once a week there is a local farmers market, and Italians do love getting their fresh vegetables and fruits there (it should cost less compared to a grocery store).
Let’s also consider the fact that Italians have 1-2 meals with their parents each week (saves some 💶 as well).
