Guess how much an Italian family spends on grocery shopping each month? 🛒

If we are talking about a young couple with no kids, they spend around €300/month. Things definitely change when there are children in the picture, but it is always ~€150 per person per month.
Technically it is not that much, so how is it possible? Italians do eat pasta, a lot. Typically they have pasta with various sauces daily for lunch. Another factor is that they cook from scratch quite often, and it is always more cost effective compared to buying prepped meals.
At least once a week there is a local farmers market, and Italians do love getting their fresh vegetables and fruits there (it should cost less compared to a grocery store).
Let’s also consider the fact that Italians have 1-2 meals with their parents each week (saves some 💶 as well).
Would you agree with the above?

It is true that in Italy one can easily survive without a car: their train system is well developed (even though there are always delays and at times cancellations). 🇮🇹

Typically you can find all the tickets on one portal: .p.a 🚊
You can easily purchase them online, and often times they are automatically validated for you (make sure to check that part). There is often an option to manage your trip and adjust the times if needed.
You can always opt out to buy your tickets at the station as well: either at the ticket center or at a digital booth.
NB: if there is a strike (which happens so often in Italy), and it falls on Friday (most likely), be aware of multiple cancellations and major delays when it comes to trains. Don’t worry, you will be reimbursed for a cancelled trip but it might take about 6 months for your money to arrive.

Are you the owner of a scooter in Italy? Starting on May 16th you must have a special plate for it! 🇮🇹

There is a fine too in case you don’t have one: from €100 and up to €400 (!). It is not technically a registered license plate, yet such a plate is linked to its owner.

What’s next? You will be able to have an insurance for your “vehicle” as well: it should cost you around €80 (on average) per year. It will be obligatory to have one together with the plate, of course. The cost of the plate is €37, plus you would need to register it on the Motorist Portal.

Let’s hope that these changes will help reduce accidents and make scooter owners more responsible and careful when driving around Italians streets. 🛴

Typically and historically Italians spend their summer vacation in August.
If you go to now, you will already discover many “cool” places being sold out starting August 4th until around the 20th.
Let’s not forget about either: a major summer public holiday, around which Italians do take days off and travel around.
It is pretty amazing that they get 2 weeks off each summer, and they get paid for it too (besides Xmas holidays!).

So, have you booked your vacation yet? 🇮🇹

Labor Day in Italy! 🇮🇹

How do Italians celebrate this holiday?
Picnics and family outings are definitely popular on this day.
There is a huge music concert in Rome each year.
Let’s not forget about city parades in honour of all the workers.
Peaceful demonstrations and public speeches happen as well.
