We are always proud to see Okolab technology supporting high-level scientific research.

In this study, recently published in Nature , a team of researchers from the University of Pennsylvania combined single-cell RNA sequencing and high-resolution spatial transcriptomics across more than 700,000 cells to map the cellular and molecular organization of the developing human kidney.

Their findings reveal that cell fate is shaped not only by intrinsic cellular programs, but also by 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. The researchers also uncovered a remarkable degree of developmental plasticity, showing that cell-fate decisions established during early nephron patterning can later be revised.

By linking spatially localized signals to differentiation trajectories, the study provides new insights into how neighboring cells coordinate human organ development, with potential implications for congenital kidney disorders, kidney and .

As part of the experimental work, human nephron organoids were imaged on a Nikon Microscope Solutions Ti2-E microscope equipped with an Bold Line .

We’re glad to share the latest BL3 revision for Evident Microscopy and Nikon Microscope Solutions setups, now featuring a new sliding removable base panel designed to provide faster and easier access to the CrestOptics X-Light V3 spinning disk when needed.

Previously removable through magnets and screws, the panel can now simply slide open — making access to the disks even more convenient while improving usability without compromising environmental control.

𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗕𝗢𝗟𝗗 𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝟯 𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗛𝗡𝗢𝗟𝗢𝗚𝗬 𝗜𝗦 𝗔 𝗡𝗘𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗬

Reproducibility in life science is not a new topic.
And yet, it remains an open challenge.

Across the scientific community, multiple studies highlight the same issue: even when protocols are clearly defined, results are not always reproducible.

Leading journals have set clear expectations: experiments should be described in detail, conditions must be controlled, and results should be replicable.

But there is still a gap — between what is written in the protocol and what actually happens during the experiment.

In live cell imaging, even tiny fluctuations in temperature, humidity or CO₂ can influence cell behavior and outcomes.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 “𝘀𝗲𝘁” 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲.
