I am immensely grateful to James Suckling and his team for this honor.
​For a boutique w**ery like Sciara, producing just 15,500 bottles a year, such recognition means the world. Pioneering high-altitude viticulture at 1,520 meters on Mt. Etna has been an extraordinary challenge—one built entirely on handcraftsmanship, determination, and the hard work of our dedicated team.

Back in April, 2020, We manually installed 4750 pieces of 5 different clones of Pinot Noir back when everyone else was being very pessimistic & discouraging about my project.
Miraculously, we had our 1st harvest from this plot the following year 2021 with 152 kg of grapes with 12.6% alc. And 510kg in 2022 from the 2nd harvest. The rest is history.
In 2024, I expanded another 2000 pieces of vines due to the previous incredible results.
I'm hereby to share this great news with you all ! It's another major milestone for me.

A fancy horse weighs 1200 kg and an average guy weighs 70 kg.... talking bout preventing soil compaction and protection of vine roots ???
And yes we don't have tractors either, we do everything by hands here.
