🌊⛵ 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐦 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟕: 𝐀 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐃𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬
GAIA FIRST, under the patronage of the French National Commission for UNESCO, is launching Mare Nostrum: a major marine expedition to the Mediterranean in 2027, aboard the historic tall ship Pelican of London.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬: A floating laboratory for ocean conservation, education, and cultural diplomacy, combining long-term land-and-sea conservation, collective intelligence-building, and direct support for three-year conservation programs in Marine Protected Areas.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐞: From Tangier to Monaco, connecting key ports and Marine Protected Areas through scientific research, citizen science, and community engagement.
𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: Up to 40 selected students will join the full expedition or one of its legs, gaining hands-on sailing experience along with training in marine science, traditional navigation, governance, and dialogue bridging Western science and Traditional Ecological Knowledge.
