Back two years after his last project "Consummatum Est", the island's photographer lnte Jag. "His new one
project, a psychoanalytic-philosophical project is titled "Behind Us" and dissects, by images, all its
ideas on the destruction of the ego. The photographs are of a dark and dark black and white, the figures are mere
representations without consistency taking inspiration from abstract art in the figurative arts where the crisis of the
rational subject manifests itself in an explosive manner. In particular, this is evident in the poetics of
Kandinsky, founder of this current. For the Russian artist the purpose of painting is no longer to imitate or
transfigure external reality, but that of representing the inner universe of the human psyche, which does not exist
configures as a rational consciousness, expressible in clear and distinct forms, but as unconscious
containing mysterious and irrational forces. In the case of Inte Jag, the use of "abstract" photography is the only one
way to capture and reproduce these forces, abstract language is configured as the language of the unconscious.
In this way abstraction leads to the extreme consequences that artistic tendency to enhance the
significant to the detriment of the meaning that is the other side - the formal one - of the substantial crisis of the
19th century conception of the self. In this environment, Jag has always moved and continues
incessantly in his artistic research to surprise us for his irreverence, his originality, his not
be, "his being anti-hero. This project is born after careful psychoanalytic and philosophical studies, through
these photographs we want to show that rationality is considered as an instrument of the instinct of
survival; the action of the human subject is considered as a product of needs and drives
natural in which the will is manifested, on the basis of a rigorous analysis of the existential experience, a
fire the insurmountable limits of individual subjectivity. Through these images the author wants to demonstrate
that the ego encounters desperation in its relationship. In fact, the self cannot be fully itself, that is
to fully realize oneself as a single personality, neither to be different from oneself, that is to try to change
his own individual constitution. The only possibility of redemption of the human subject lies in the capacity of
to understand one's condition clearly, renouncing all illusions. This means,
paradoxically, that the only greatness of man consists in recognizing his own misery, his own
insuperable nullity; and, in fact, the only real remedy for suffering consists in death, that is
in the annulment of the self. A project, therefore, in which there is no room for hope, a vision of man
and of his world shown in which the only way out is the destruction of the self.
