Clinical Study Reports High VDO Accuracy for Medit intraoral scanner
A new in vivo study published in The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, one of the most respected peer-reviewed journals in prosthodontics, evaluated how accurately different intraoral scanners capture increased vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO) under real clinical conditions.

• In this study, the i900 scanner from Medit was reported as one of the scanners showing the highest trueness and precision among the groups tested.
• i900 also maintained consistent trueness and precision across both the anterior and posterior sectors.
• The study further reported that a two-way ANOVA identified the choice of IOS as a meaningful factor influencing VDO accuracy.
Accurately capturing maxillomandibular relationships at an increased VDO is essential for predictable prosthodontic and full-arch rehabilitation workflows.
This research provides helpful clinical evidence supporting consistent performance in demanding restorative scenarios.
