“An adequate home” also means a healthy habitat capable of supporting biodiversity.
On 5 October, World Habitat Day draws attention to the places where we live and the conditions needed for them to continue supporting life.
The theme chosen for 2026, “Adequate Housing for All”, highlights the right to adequate housing for everyone. When viewed through the lens of nature, this principle takes on an even broader meaning: species also need healthy habitats, with the resources, shelter and suitable conditions they need to live and reproduce.
Habitat fragmentation and degradation are among the main threats to biodiversity and ecosystem balance today. Protecting existing natural areas is therefore not enough: it is increasingly important to improve their quality, strengthen ecological connectivity and enhance their ability to support biodiversity over time.
These goals are at the heart of the projects developed together with , which combine monitoring, technology and regeneration measures to assess habitat quality and define biodiversity protection strategies based on measurable scientific data. Whiteready srl Società Benefit 3Bee
