VERTIKO- SMART LANDING POLE | The Smart Cities of the future need new control and management tools for the safety of public and private areas. Aerial control by means of video surveillance drones on intelligent poles represent the most innovative solution in the field of urban security. VertiKO – Smart Landing Pole, designed by architect Giancarlo Zema for SmartKO a brand of the Calzavara company. The drone with sophisticated infrared HD video camera system allows you to perform video surveillance of private and public areas on the move in complete safety and autonomy 24/7. The Drone is connected in real time with the command and control system through a high-speed communication network to achieve intelligent management with multiple modes and functions. The system allows the management of the drone from a remote command center with dedicated software or with a single operator on the front line to easily control the flight platform, thus eliminating the need for professional pilots using traditional RC remote controls. The 98% recyclable VertiKO structure houses and protects the drone like a cradle. The hemispherical shell protects the drone from strong wind, rain and snow, opening automatically before the vehicle takes off and then closes once the inspection service is finished. Holes at the base of the landing plate allow for perfect drainage. The luminous LED strip at the pole attachment allows night lighting of the area below. VertiKO’s roof contains an innovative spherical photovoltaic technology capable of obtaining concentrated energy up to 200Wp for wireless charging of the drone.

TELECOMMUNICATION DESIGN | The 60-meter-high Qataf Tower is the innovative 5G telecommunication and radar control tower-sculpture, the only one of its kind to be built in Qatar on the artificial island of the Doha Cruise Ship Port, in front of the waterfront, the Corniche that extends for seven kilometers along the Doha Bay. The project by the Italian architect Giancarlo Zema for SmartKO a brand of Calzavara Group is inspired in its shape by the tapered bud of Qataf, the national flower of Qatar that grows along the country’s coastline and blooms from March to May. It is not only a technical communication and control tower with the most modern VHF and radar antenna systems but also a magical place for observation and reflection with its café with a bidirectional panoramic view at 40 meters high, on three levels for a total of 200 Sqm, where it will be possible to enjoy an aperitif while admiring the sunset. The Qataf Tower aims to be the first high-design antenna tower capable of communicating to the world Qatar’s natural predisposition for technological innovation and a deep passion for beauty and art in view of the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022.

EdiKO is also a hub (HubKO) for sustainable mobility, an E-Station where inhabitants can charge their green vehicles, including electric cars, pedal-assist e-bikes and electric scooters. EdiKO is the new generation of digital kiosks in elegant designs with a strong visual appeal, a modern reinterpretation of the traditional news kiosk.
