What a great night with the Coretechs team!

We had a blast tailgating and enjoying the LSU vs. Louisiana Tech game together. Nights like this are a great reminder that some of the best parts of building a company are the relationships, friendships, and memories you make along the way.

We recently took over a large client’s IT Services and during our review found a generic scanner account with full administrator access to their entire Microsoft tenant.

That account had Global Administrator permissions across Microsoft 365.

And no MFA.

A generic scanner login essentially had the keys to the kingdom.

If those credentials had been compromised, an attacker potentially could have taken control of the entire Microsoft 365 environment.

This was no small "mom and pop" business, this was a multi-location multi-million dollar business.

This is the kind of stuff that worries us about businesses choosing IT providers based primarily on price.

Anybody can install software, reset passwords, and answer support tickets.

A competent managed services provider should be reviewing permissions, securing identities, enforcing MFA, monitoring threats, checking backups, removing unnecessary access, and constantly looking for things that shouldn’t be there.

Because most business owners have no way of knowing whether their IT is actually being managed correctly.

They’re trusting someone to do it.

The cheapest MSP might save you a few hundred dollars a month.

One bad configuration can cost you a whole lot more than that.

When you choose who manages your technology and cybersecurity, don’t just ask what it costs.

Ask what they’re actually doing to protect you.

We’re busting at the seams!

Over the next few months, Coretechs will be moving into a new location in our Ruston office with 4x the space we have today. This gives us room to continue growing our team, better serve our clients, and build for the future.

The best part? We’re not leaving downtown.

We believe in Downtown. We love being able to walk to lunch, support local businesses, grab coffee with clients, and be part of the energy that’s made this community so special.

Kyle joins us as a Managed Services Administrator and brings many years of MSP experience, Microsoft 365 expertise, networking, systems administration, and project leadership. He’s worked with businesses across North Louisiana helping design, deploy, and support reliable IT environments, and we’re excited to have that experience on our team.

To power it all, we’ve partnered with Ritter Communications to bring in the high-speed fiber connection needed to deliver the performance and reliability this property demands.

We also couldn’t help but notice some familiar equipment onsite from our clients and friends at Southern States Equipment!

Your IT company should never hold you hostage.

One of our clients sent us this screenshot today. It was from a conversation with one of their customers who was dealing with their own IT provider, and it reminded me of something.

Unfortunately, a lot of MSPs make it incredibly difficult to leave, renew, or even make changes to an agreement. Tiny renewal windows, complicated cancellation terms, and contracts designed to trap people instead of serve them.

At Coretechs, we do contracts too. We believe they protect both sides and set clear expectations. But we’re never going to force someone to do business with us because of fine print or technicalities.

At the end of the day, we’re all neighbors, business owners, and part of the same community. If someone stays with us, we want it to be because we’ve earned their business—not because a contract gave them no other choice.

That’s how we believe business should be done.
