We’re excited to be part of G-Steam Academy, an European initiative funded by the Erasmus+ Teacher Academies programme that empowers educators to foster gender-inclusive and intersectional teaching in STEAM.

As Smart Venice, we lead WP3, where we are setting up the European Community of Practice — a safe space for teacher trainers, schools, and stakeholders to exchange experiences, co-create resources, and take part in a certified training and mobility programme for mentors. We also contribute to WP4, supporting the design principles of the G-STEAM Toolbox.

Together with partners from 9 countries, we’re working to transform STEAM education into a more inclusive and engaging experience for all!

A Self-Defense Manual for Teachers Facing Attacks on Education on Differences

❌ In a time when political and media discourse increasingly delegitimizes inclusive educational practices - reducing them to “ideology” and attacking them through carefully crafted narratives such as the so-called “gender theory” - this manual emerges as a concrete tool for resistance, solidarity, and alliance.

💜 This Self-Defense Manual is not a neutral guide, but a situated and collective response, born from the needs of those who experience schools as spaces of relationship, recognition, and care, and who face ever-growing cultural, institutional, and communicative challenges.

👩‍🏫This collective transfeminist manual is for all those who, every day, inside and outside classrooms, defend education on differences, emotional awareness, and sexuality.

🛠️ Developed within the Italian FIERCE Lab (Florence, June 2023–July 2024), the manual is the result of a co-creation process involving teachers, activists, and educators - coordinated by Smart Venice srl and Scuola Normale Superiore.
