We are thankful to be a part of Wilmina’s story and journey, and we can only imagine how Wilmina will continue to grow, transform, and be a part of the surrounding community and Berlin’s history.

Through our years of filming the space, we walked across the gates, past the garden, up the stairs and into a wonderful maze of darkness and opportunity. Through many new windows, the architects of Wilmina invited the light back in. The exemplifies the miracles— big and small— that architecture creates in the world.

Hidden in the heart of Berlin lies a story of transformation and creativity. A former courthouse and women’s prison has become a boutique hotel full of airy rooms surrounded by lush gardens and a beautiful courtyard. was designed for the modern guest as a contemplative space of retreat by Grüntuch Ernst Architects ( ), and is now open to the public for booking. The building offers much more than its chic 44 rooms and suites; it boasts a rooftop terrace, library, bar, spa, and gym, and its existence speaks volumes about how spaces and people change, and how we can respect history and spatial purpose through architecture.

Working creatively and critically, Krzysztof Wodiczko’s brings stories of marginalized individuals into public space and discourse. Curator presents Interrogative Design: Selected Works of Krzysztof Wodiczko, which is on view through April 8th. Monument (2020) juxtaposes the lives of 12 refugees onto a statue honoring American prowess during the Civil War. The exhibit aims to “emphasize Wodiczko’s practice of bridging art with design, weaving social engagement with innovative technologies, mapping marginalized identities onto architecture, and reinscribing new memories onto existing monuments.” You can also view the exhibits online.
