GRAPE QUIZ TIME!
🍇 The answer was…Nosiola.

A native white grape of Trentino, Nosiola is best known as the grape behind the legendary Trentino Vino Santo, one of Italy’s most distinctive sweet wines.

Its name comes from nocciola (hazelnut), a clue to the delicate nutty notes that can appear alongside aromas of white flowers and citrus. 🌰🍋

Whether vinified dry or transformed into Vino Santo through a long grape-drying process, Nosiola stands out for its bright acidity, freshness and unmistakable Trentino identity.

We told you it was worth reading. 😉

Last week, we shared this article in our Stories. This week, it earns a place in .

Written by our own Sarah Heller MW (yes, in Italian 🇮🇹), it explores why some of Italy’s most distinctive white wines still struggle to gain recognition abroad.

The issue is not quality, but communication: grape names, appellations and local identities often get lost in translation, making these wines harder for international audiences to understand.

🍇 The answer was…Cesanese.

A historic native grape of Lazio with roots linked to Ancient Rome and the town of Cesano itself. 🇮🇹

Known for its elegant yet spicy profile, Cesanese stands out for notes of ripe cherry, rose petals, cinnamon and pepper, balanced by refreshing acidity and silky tannins. 🍷

Today it’s mostly produced as a dry red, but its history also includes sweet passito and sparkling styles (a side of Cesanese many people don’t know 👀).

Wine education is also about making students want to discover a territory beyond the glass ✨

In this conversation, Eros Teboni - Sommelier from Consorzio Tutela Vino Custoza shares the hope that students leave curious (and thirsty 🍷) enough to come and experience the denomination for themselves one day. 🍇

Custoza is a place, a culture and a way of living wine that connects territory, food and people in an authentic way, far beyond something to simply taste or study. 🌿🍽️❤️
