MADE IN ANCIENT EGYPT

From elaborately decorated coffins to the “Books of the Dead”, ancient Egyptians produced objects that remain iconic today. But who were the makers behind them and how were they made? Drawing on groundbreaking scientific research, “Made in Ancient Egypt” reveals the untold stories of Egyptian craftspeople and the technologies behind these extraordinary works.

As the first book to explore ancient Egypt through the lives of its makers, it brings together a wide range of objects—from pottery and glass to jewellery and papyri. Many of these artifacts reveal the marks of their creators, from inked lines and chisel marks on royal statues to preparatory sketches on limestone ostraca, small flakes of stone used like ancient notepads. The volume also features conversations with contemporary Egyptian makers working with the same materials, shedding new light on technical processes that are still recognizable today.

🗓 Last chance! The exhibition at the Fitzwilliam Museum, University of Cambridge, is closing this very weekend, on April 12th.

MINIATURES FROM THE BEARSTED COLLECTION

This exquisite catalogue accompanied an intimate exhibition of eight exceptional Elizabethan and Jacobean portrait miniatures by master miniaturists Nicholas Hilliard (1547–1619) and Isaac Oliver (c. 1565–1617). Originally acquired by Walter Samuel, one of the most discerning British collectors of the early 20th century, the collection offers a profound glimpse into the art and evolution of miniature painting in England.

Every art book presents its own unique challenges, and this project required a level of commitment that went far beyond mere technical ex*****on. During the delicate half-cloth binding phase, we encountered an unforeseen quality issue on a portion of the print run. We did not hesitate: our absolute priority was to protect the integrity of the work and our client’s reputation, setting off a true race against time.

By swiftly coordinating the recall, reprinting, and rebinding of the volumes, and thanks to an extraordinary synergy with the client, we successfully ensured the scheduled distribution. This book is not just a beautifully printed volume; it is a testament to our dedication to overcoming any obstacle to deliver a product that meets the highest expectations.

🗓 The exhibition was on view from November 19 to December 19, 2025

THE MADONNA AND CHILD

A portrait format with a slightly square shape—striking the perfect balance between modern design and the classic elegance demanded by such a timeless subject. This volume is a true tactile and visual gem.

The finishes of this work have been meticulously curated to enhance its prestige. The hardcover is bound in authentic Brillianta bookcloth, featured in a sober and refined shade of green. But the real standout lies in the details: an elegant circular debossing on both the front and back covers houses two beautifully printed and carefully tipped-in images.

These cover labels are printed on the same high-quality bulky uncoated paper (“carta volume”) used for the book’s interior, which features a vibrant 5-color print (with Gold Pantone) for exceptional color reproduction. Crowning the design, the title lettering shines in radiant hot gold foil stamping, adorning both the cover and the spine.

WAYNE THIEBAUD – Paul Holberton Publishing

With contributions by Rachel Teagle, Richard Shiff, Lucy Bradnock, and Chloe Nahum, this publication celebrates the remarkable career of Wayne Thiebaud (1920–2021), one of the leading figures of American figurative art.

Renowned for his unique ability to bridge realism and abstraction, Thiebaud narrated a century of American history through his vivid depictions of cakes, pies, gumball machines, delicatessen counters, arcade games, and other icons of postwar consumer culture. These luminous and tactile still lifes earned him national recognition in the early 1960s and remain central to his legacy.

The works featured in the volume are currently on display at in London, and the book has been produced in close collaboration with internationally recognized designer Laura Parker ( London).

Particular care has been devoted to the materiality of the printed object. The interior paper was selected for its ability to deliver excellent color performance while providing a rich, textured surface that subtly recalls the canvas of Thiebaud’s original paintings—enhancing both visual depth and tactile experience.

A DESIGN FOR CONTINUITY AND CHANGE – PAUL HOLBERTON PUBLISHING
Published on the occasion of the 2025 reopening of in New York after its major renovation, this volume explores the history and evolution of this ambitious architectural project. The book is richly illustrated with photographs of the refurbished interiors and exteriors, architectural plans and elevations, and a striking photographic essay by the acclaimed .helene .

It was a challenging and demanding project, which we handled with the utmost care in terms of color management — from color correction to proofing on the same paper used for the final production, printed in offset using a digitally linearized press.

The greatest challenges arose in rendering the large-scale architectural images, as well as the photographs of interior spaces and exterior areas of the newly restored Gallery.
Photographer Hélène Binet envisioned images that were vivid and full of life, with deep, intense blacks. To achieve this, we worked to enhance structure and contrast by introducing precise amounts of cyan, yellow, and magenta, focusing especially on midtones and shadows, while preserving the subtle gray gradations in the lightest areas.

We are proud to have contributed to a result that met expectations, and we wish to thank Michaelyn, Director of The Frick Collection, and , the book’s publisher, for their trust and collaboration.
