I have never really spent much time in Canary Wharf exploring but was struck by some of the information and facts shared by the Chief People Officer for the Canary Wharf group yesterday so took the opportunity to put my trainers on this am and go for a run 🏃‍♀️ around to explore!

61 million people visit Canary Wharf each year! 3500 live there!

Yesterday the CPO was sharing about their place making and inclusive designs, commitment to generating opportunity for community space / connections and commitment to disability and inclusion and it’s so evident! Lots of building work but still such a colourful and vibrant area with huge amounts of artwork on the boarding around the construction sites!

Here’s a few photos from my run around, only a few as it was pouring with ☔️!

Fantastic afternoon yesterday celebrating Purple Tuesday at the most amazing venue hosted by Jane Hollinshead of the CanaryWharfGroup!

Great to hear from so many incredible people in the room who are all a force to improve the experience and opportunity for disabled people.

The panel discussion with Boots UK SHL Hidden Disabilities Sunflower 💜 Smartbox Allwyn UK Standard Chartered Bank National Highways was very insightful and inspiring to hear about what they are all committed to doing!

Some key points below:

🦽🦯🌻 27% Uk population & 17% global population is disabled

🤝 Trust is starting to be built between brands and disabled people but more needs to follow and businesses need help to understand and change through real tangible lived experience

⏩Momentum is growing and the next generation will not tolerate what previous generations have. So we all need to work at pace.

Three points to help….

1️⃣ Be a Disability Ally
2️⃣ Address ableism when you see it. Not confronting it but do something about it
3️⃣ Advocate for disability rights

Collectively we need to understand true accessibility and then make it happen

I am so greatful to Purple Tuesdays, CEO Mike Adams for the invite and I am looking forward to developing the relationship to see how we can support Jersey businesses and organisations to make meaningful change.

Please do checkout Purple Tuesday and sign up!

What is one commitment you can do this year to make a change? It doesn’t have to be Huge, one small step 🦶is enough!

😊 What can I say but a HUGE thank you to each and everyone of you who gave up your time to sweep, shovel, drive vans, donate coffee (thanks Costa Coffee St Brelade!) and support todays Parish of St Brélade clean up!

What an incredible turnout and so fantastic to see some people meeting their neighbours for the first time! Despite the 🌧️ there was so many smiles and laughter! Thank you to all the photos which I think show how much people enjoyed their day!

I know many wish to continue to help and i’ll be chatting to the Constable tomorrow about how he wishes to continue the momentum and will send an email out. The solidarity and support witnessed within our community today has been remarkable!

This Thursday at 7pm at Les Quennevais School we are holding a Community Meeting to explore other ways of bringing the parish together. This gathering will focus on enhancing community support and engagement in the Parish.

Please do sign up via [Eventbrite]

The Parish are working to get equipment and volunteers together to support a coordinated Parish clean up over this coming weekend.

Your help can make a world of difference during this challenging time. Whether you have an hour to spare or can dedicate more of your time, every volunteer counts.

You should only sign up to volunteer if you are physically capable to do so, volunteering will be at your own risk and we do not wish to put any Parishioners at risk of injuring or hurting themselves.

🌧️🌪 As Storm Ciaran dies down slightly, let's not forget to look out for one another during these times. 🤝

Safety first! ⚠️ Make sure you and your loved ones are safe and sound. When it is safe to do so, check your property for any damage and take necessary precautions. 🏡💨

However, let's also remember our wonderful neighbors who might need a helping hand or just a friendly chat to ease their post-storm nerves. 🏘️❤️

As the winds dies down later, take a moment today to check in on your neighbors, especially those who might be vulnerable or isolated. A simple "Are you okay?" can go a long way in providing comfort and support. 🌟

Together, we can weather any storm! 💪❤️

Just had a fantastic visit to Les Quennevais School! The facilities are truly amazing and a real asset to the community.

Great discussions about how the school can better connect with the Parish of St Brélade and the importance of inclusion in education.

It's clear that Les Quennevais School is providing education that is accessible to all.

Looking forward to continuing the discussions around community with students and staff in the coming months!
